Good Show on Blogging…

May 30th, 2009 · 8 Comments

For those who missed it  (how could you!  :)   here’s a link to Friday’s Bill Good show, where I was the invited guest to talk about blogging:

Click here for Harv on Bill Good May 29  10:00 to 11:00

It’s also available via the station’s website: www.CKNW.com in the Audio Vault.

And watch here Sunday for what I hope will be the opening salvo in a new debate over the “red herring” argument that it costs “too much” to send/keep people in prison … and it doesn’t work.

As a person who grew up watching you on BCTV it was sure nice hearing you on the radio. Like many people nowadays, I don’t really watch the news anymore as I found they don’t have the time or budget to do real reporting anymore. They seem to read press releases, etc and accept what government officials tell them.

I get most of my information off the web. It is scary how dumb downed the US news is. What woke me up was 9/11 and how easily the media accepted and passed on the government message of who did it. Well ….we all now know that Afghans didn’t do it as the apparent terrorists were all from Saudi Arabia according to the US government. However the US still invades Afghanistan.

Isn’t it interesting that over 1000 architects, engineers (http://www.ae911truth.org/) & scientists have come out saying the official story is BS and a new independent investigation should be done. Imagine….almost 3000 people die in the largest terrorist attack against a country and no one was charged??? Also just ignore that a 47 storey building (Builiding 7) completely collapsed onto itself perfectly as if it was imploded like the Georgia Hotel. As you know this building was not hit by a plane.

Lastly lets just ignore that scientists have recently confirmed that thermite was found in the 9/11 dust. Thermite is commonly used in weapons and demolition. Why is it in the dust? It sure would be nice to have an independent investigation to find out.

Where has all the common sense gone? Ex. Numerous skyscrapers have burned throughout the world for double the amount the time of the twin towers in New York and yet they don’t collapse perfectly onto themselves. Why is that???

    Anyways have a good weekend.

I am listening to it right now Harv. Great interview. I have no issues with Bill Good. In fact, I’ve always liked him. Despite that fact that callers always try to accuse him of being left/right, I think he does a pretty good job of being objective. Harvey, let me know if I step on slanderous ground :-)

    Oh, ps….I have no money….lol

(Response: I’ve been practicing in case I lose everything by making a mistake somewhere along the line… “Would you like fries with that?” h.o.)

Man, a day after I allege the blogosphere provides a forum for intelligent discussion, Jeff shows up trying to prove me wrong.

Of course, the great value of the Internet is that anybody can find anything. So, if you believe in ghosts, haunted houses, alien visitors, cults and conspiracy theories, every weird belief you hold can be reinforced, or maybe dispelled if you open your mind a crack.

Jeff, try a little skepticism. Examine all sides of an issue. Read the believers but also read the rationalists and the scoffers. If your idea holds up to thoughtful analysis, it might be worthwhile.

Michael Shermer, editor of Skeptic Magazine, has made interesting comments about 9/11 and its Truthers. Read the magazine’s effort to put the movement in perspective.

(Response: The funiest thing about conspiracy theorists is that they accept almost anything they read on the internet or elsewehere WITHOUT question ..but dont believe ANYTHING the MSM says, even though they …more than anyone on the internet ..are much more scrutinized for libel, slander etc and have the $$ to pay big penalties too if found guilty. h.o.)

do you consider people who believe our bc rail was stolen from us conspiracy theorists ?Or hydro being handcuffed,or our salmon disappearing,or convention center over runs or our boats given away or ppp renewed mandate for the portmann and no renewed tenders let’s just pay for them and shutup ok?!

    (Response: No, I don’t h.o.)

I simply can’t believe neither you nor Bill were familiar with Judith Miller and the New York Times story!!!. Really shows the incredible ignorance of you mainstream media folk.

(Response: The real ignorance is yours Seth. How dumb it is to expect ANYONE, whether mainstream media or not, to know EVERY case on EVERY issue around the world. My reporting experience revolved around municipal, regional, provincial and Canadian federal issues .. and even in those areas, it would be ludicrous to expect me, over 38 years, to remember every issue that came up even in those fields… let alone instantly recall something that happened in the media in another country more than a decade ago. h.o.)

I’ve always snickered at the old expression, “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they are not out to get you.”

Yesterday, on my own blog, I posted a bemused article about RCMP Commissioner Elliott’s “apology” over Dziekanski’s death. Also one that repeated Don Rosenbloom’s suggestion that authorities are now on notice that they shall be accountable.

Today, I checked the blog’s traffic report and noticed that early this morning I had visitors from the Solicitor General in Ottawa.

Will there be another shoe to drop? Do they have computers trolling the web for critics?
    Strange coincidence.

(Response: Good luck. I will back your right to question and speak out …right up to the prison gate. ;) h.o.)

Sorry Harvey that excuse just doesn’t cut it.

This was one of the major news stories in the United States in 2004 and 2005, and was of particular interest to those who are aware of right wing bias in major media. No better example than the last election in BC.

The Miller story was part of the Scooter Libby affair. Did you at least hear about that?

(Response: “Major”? In whose view? Seems very subjective conclusion on your part because YOU were interested in it: I doubt most Americans (or Canadians) would regard it as a “major” story of 2004. As for Scooter Libby story: Yes )

    > Heard you on CKNW on the subject of ownership of the media etc.
    >
    > CKNW fair and balanced– B.S.—
    > Bill Good, Christy Clark, Michail Campbell, Levy Roy Green and Adler.
    >
    > If you mantioned B.C. Rail on Bill Good show your’re a cultist. Mention Run of River and your’re histerical. Talk about drinking your own bathwater. Also good to see CBC beating CKNW in ratings. Story is on Tyee under section “reported elsewhere” Friday May 29.
