Why is Extremist Islamic Brutality Downplayed or Hidden by Canada’s Media?

The Christian worshippers had come from near and far to celebrate their church’s Silver Jubilee and, ironically, “pray for peace”.

“Attackers came in and they beheaded Christians in the church,” a witness later reported.

“The jihadis killed those they met in the church hall. Those who tried to flee, they caught them and killed them in the compound. And then some others who managed to run towards the road, those also were caught and killed. All of them were killed with machetes.”

“Nine of those who were decapitated in Sunday’s DRC attack were children. Several other children, the number isn’t clear, were abducted. The attackers were members of the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a sanctioned rebel group with roots in Uganda,” Fox News reported.

Islamic terrorists had murdered 49 Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo … only two weeks ago … but what I found most curious, and disgraceful, is how little coverage this Islamic terrorist barbarity received in Canada’s media!

The church was burned to ashes.

“Christians are not even sleeping in their houses at night,” according to Henrietta Blyth, CEO of Open Doors UK and Ireland (a Christian outreach organization.). “They would rather sleep in the jungle at risk of wild animals than be sitting ducks in their houses when the extremists attack. In Sub-Saharan Africa, we think that more than 16 million Christians have been displaced as a result of the violence. The church is on the run. “

(You can read the full story here: https://www.foxnews.com/world/exclusive-eyewitness-testimony-reveals-horrific-details-deadly-church-attack-african-nation.)

Looks like a pretty newsworthy story to me! But little or no coverage in the Canadians media? Why?

Especially questionable when you compare the MASSIVE coverage that went on for days by all Canadian news networks and newspapers the very same month when a single errant Israeli shell accidentally struck a church in Gaza, killing three.

Quite a contrast!

In fact, you likely do not know, in Canada, that the latest annual report from Open Door International lists eight Islamic nations in its Top 10 countries where Christians are being persecuted, murdered and their churches/institutions destroyed. (Read their findings here: https://www.opendoors.org/en-US/persecution/countries/.)

Seen that story covered?

Or the Canadian media coverup of what’s been happening in the Islamic Republic of Iran during/since its latest war with Israel?

“Iran says it arrested 21,000 ‘suspects’ during 12-day war with Israel-US,” said the headline on Al Jazeera, the Qatari Arabic news network, last Tuesday. (Other reports say the number is closer to 27,000.) (Full story here: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/8/12/iran-says-it-arrested-21000-suspects-during-12-day-war-with-israel-us.)

More than 20,000 civilians … businessmen, professionals, students, teachers, shopkeepers, workers, minority group members etc … rounded up, taken to Iranian prisons for interrogation, likely torture and, more often than not, resulting in spurious charges that lead to almost guaranteed findings of “Guilty”.

Imagine their trauma/suffering and the agony of their families!

I haven’t seen that huge number given much, or in some cases, any coverage on Canadian radio, TV or newspapers. Did you?

The Norwegian-based group, Iran Human Rights, has also reported “at least 343 executions in Iran in the first four months of 2025 — a 75% increase over the same period in 2024.” (Details: https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/iran-sees-75-increase-in-executions-during-first-four-months-of-2025-over-2024.)

Think it would be ignored if any Christian, Buddhist, Hindu nation … or Israel …arrested so many so fast or executed so many in such a short period?

Once more, however, brutality by an Islamic extremist regime gets a pass from Canada’s media! Why?

And then there was Canadian media’s handling of the horrid violence by Sunni Islamic extremists against Syria’s Shia-affiliated Druze minority.

Foreign networks/media worldwide reported in detail … complete with bone-chilling closed-circuit hospital videos … Syrian Sunni troops entering a Druze hospital in Suweida, rounding up staff, patients, and then massacring what one news agency said was 300 of them, including “an eight-year-old disabled boy shot in the head”. (Check out the BBC report: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly84jn000do.)

Other videos showed Bedouin Sunni thugs humiliating and slaughtering more than a thousand Druze elders and civilians … ironically, until Israeli troops crossed the border into Syria and stopped the attacks … but again, the degree of terrible brutality by Islamic extremists against the Druze was largely downplayed, and the videos held back, by much of Canada’s media.

And speaking of videos, just this past week, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) barred a CANADIAN documentary about an Israeli grandfather’s experiences after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas Islamic terrorist massacre (that left 1,200 dead and 251 taken hostage).

TIFF claimed they banned the film because it contained Hamas-shot videos of atrocities without getting Hamas’ written approval before being shown.

Seriously!!!!

I searched but could not find a single case of ANY Film Festival EVER requiring permission from, say, the Nazis, for use of film footage the Nazis shot of their victims arriving on trains at concentration camps and being sorted/classified; or, permission being required from the Khmer Rouge for leaked footage they took during their slaughter of 2.4 million civilians in Cambodia; or, permission being required from US soldiers who filmed themselves torching Vietnamese villages before the videos went public

So why now, at the formerly respected … and often provocative … TIFF?

Syndicated columnist/commentator Warren Kinsella speculated.

“So, what persuaded TIFF to bar the film? Was it Qatar? It, too, is a fair question, because the relationship between TIFF and the Doha Film Institute has grown exponentially since 2019. Qatar has funded many anti-Semitic and anti-Israel boycott campaigns in recent years — along with its documented support for Hamas and its terrorism,” Kinsella wrote. (Read his full analysis here: https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/kinsella-is-qatar-steering-tiffs-ship.)

Scary!

After huge public backlash, TIFF backed down and will allow the film to be shown.

Now watch for the wall to wall “news” coverage given the pro-Islamic protestors and activists who show up when the film gets scheduled!

Meanwhile this weekend, Iraqi officials began excavating a mass grave where Islamic ISIS terrorists massacred 4,000 Azidi Zoroastrian minority civilians … just part of the 400,000 people reportedly killed by ISIS Islamic extremists. The story has been covered, complete with video, elsewhere, but haven’t noted it even mentioned here. (https://news.sky.com/video/iraq-begins-excavations-of-isis-mass-grave-13413776_

Getting the picture? (Likely, not … in Canadian media!)

What’s going on?

Why are Islamic terrorists getting so many Free Passes? Why is the brutality by extremist Islamic regimes being barely covered … or ignored? Why are so many murders/attacks on Christians and others by violent Islamists ignored?

Canadian news viewers and readers, including our own Muslim citizens … the vast majority of whom are law-abiding moderates … deserve to be told the truth, the full truth about radical Islam’s continuing ACTIVE brutality against anyone who stands in the way of their jihadi ambitions.

But it sure looks to me like much of Canada’s media are kowtowing to Islamic lobbyists or pro-Islamic activists in their own midst (producers, writers, reporters) to whitewash, downplay or totally ignore newsworthy stories that expose radical Islam’s continuing use of ruthless savagery to not only dominate/suppress their own people, but subjugate or eliminate us “infidels” as well.

Instead, we are overwhelmingly getting heavily weighted stories, featuring one-sided videos and one-sided interviews, with few or sometimes no counterpoints/interviews at all. Terrible journalism!

Pay attention also to the “experts” invited to comment or write Op-ed pieces …. sometimes so biased, so selective, and so one-sided, they are actually quite easy to spot … and just dismiss as propaganda.

And Canada’s media wonder why fewer are listening, watching or reading!

If you do care at all about what’s really going on around the world, including where radical Islam is still on the move … inflicting its brutality, check out foreign news sources on the Internet.

Because Canada’s media won’t tell you much!

  1. Gilbert says:

It’s a very interesting question. Maybe the hatred of Christianity is so great among some that they want to believe Islam is the world’s most peaceful religion and Mohammed is a role model for all. In any case, ignoring acts of violence against Christians proves that the media is often biased. I wish the media reported the news accurately and let people decide what to believe. Instead, the media seems to tell people what to believe, and many believe what the media tells them.

(Response: Too much of the media today … especially TV and newspapers … takes sides … pushing their own agendas. It’s actually quite easy to spot and declining subscribers and viewers shows that people are noticing and literally turning them off. However, there are still many REAL journalists out there …trying very hard to be fair and covering both (or even several0 sides to issues, so I still live in hope that one day, their bosses will too! Ho)

Some times I wonder how much influence the advertisers have on what news reports. If people aren’t watching the news then advertisers won’t pay much for the time. How do you get people to watch, with dumb shit they don’t have to think about. There is also the interesting matter of people around 40 and under not knowing much about history, even history for this province, so international history is just not on the radar. I’ve had 30/40 somethings ask me how I know “all that stuff”. I was taught it school and UBC. Watched the news back in the day, lived through it and eavesdropped on adults when I was a kid. History was always an easy subject, if it happens and then it repeats in some form or other again and again its easy to remember. Just look south of the border. It looks a lot like gestapo time and it is doubtful many Canadians and Americans know about what the Gestapo actually was and did. Perhaps many don’t care about what goes on in Africa because its in Africa, same for killings in Muslim countries where one religion kills the other. They think it won’t happen here. People want to look at what happened between Protestants and Catholics back in the day in G.B. and Europe or Christians marching all the way to the middle east to kill Muslims.
I was surprised how many people in younger generations than the aging baby boomers did not know about WW II. Aging baby boomer have a clearer knowledge because either their parents or grandparents were fighting in the war, being bombed or doing the bombing, lost family members.
Currently watching the 6 p.m. CTV news. Its not news, its a discussion of a lack of parking for disabled persons at Lacarno beach, emus being killed because of a disease, there was a brief mention of the tariff war between Canada and the U.S.A. but more time was spent on the emu. They reported on two women being grabbed in central park. Fine, but then they go on and interview people in the park and some one else. Frankly I don’t care. The report of the assaults, fine, but the rest, waste of air. I’d like to know how many people were killed in foreign wars not how many emus. they have the owner crying about it on camera. Now there is some one else talking about it. Its not the end of the world. They had a disease which can kill other birds.
channel 13 does news at a much faster pass. yes it reports on criminal things, etc. but it is brief. It isn’t a monologue going on for much to long..

(Response: Well, if it’s any consolation, it’s worse in the US! Many Americans can’t name their own state capital; can’t find Washington DC on a map; and, when they graduate from High School, know little of their own history, let alone the world they live in. In Canada, I hurt for the real journalists who suffer too as they watch their TV, radio stations and newspapers cave to political correctness/ideological/ethnic/indigenous pressure groups and become their “messengers” and don’t dare challenge/question them the way they used to quite frequently. And they wonder why fewer now watch, listen, read their product! Ho)

  3. e.a.f. says:

the Canadian media has disappeared. What we have now is just mind pap. Not much of anything is reported and if it is, its simple, not always accurate. Most of the talking heads simply are reading what is in front of them. we no longer have news about what is going on in the city, the province, the country, the world. The do spend a fair amount of time om sports though. If you want news you have to go find it.
As to why the media is so pro terrorist is beyond me, but it maybe simply, its fashionable. It has some appeal to some younger people but I doubt many if any are watching. It may well be the long reach of the Quatar, bank accounts. Being that rich, people want a piece of it and if hiding the truth works, then that is what happens. Generally speaking people don’t want to hear or see the destruction, killing, bombed out buildings, etc. If they watch the violence they may have to think about it and make a decision om it. I can remember Walter Cronkite reporting on the Vietnam war and at the end there would be a sort of ticker tape thing listing how many people were killed.
the news organizations appear to be run by old people who are so out of touch and they want to take the easy way. Reporting, real reporting takes time, energy and can be dangerous. why do that when you can get something from the person reading something. Most talking heads at 6 p.m. don’t appear to leave their t.v. station, don’t talk to people, don’t keep up with politics in their town or the world. They are hired for being able to do nothing. There is nothing on the news which is of interest these days or for this century. Gone are the days of major anchor people taking a risk and knowing what they are talking abut. While watching the Democratic convention in Chicago back in the day, some one hit Walter Cronkite on the head I think it was with a baton. the coverage of that convention was excellent. We’d never see that today.

Its interesting to see the politician taking on a private prosecution of the racist carry on of the female speaker in support of murder on the Court House steps. she certainly wouldn’t be carrying on like that in the country where her husband lives nor would her appearance be acceptable. The news just skipped over a hell of a lot. Who financially supports her and her group, who are all involved, how does she get from where her husband lives and Vancouver, what is her real aim the killing of Jews or simply getting some media attention. There wasn’t anything interesting about her, but she certainly got coverage. Don’t recall any reporters trying to get an in depth interview with her. No body wants to ask the questions.
As we watch the U.S.A. roll into a fascist dictatorship without much major coverage, we need to pay attention.

(Response: I think it would be hard for anyone to say that in Canada today, news coverage is fair, balanced and impartial. My own impression is that it’s easy to get “positive” coverage of complaints/campaigns/demands by visible minorities, immigrants, refugees, First Nations, environmental activists, gays, transsexuals, anti-American, anti-Israel or pro-Palestinian … but much more difficult to get much attention to your complaints/campaigns/criticisms about growing attacks in the world against Christians, increasing Muslim-related social strife/violence in UK/Europe and domestically, are pro-life, against safe drug programs and injection sites, oppose DEI as a policy or, as indicated in a recent poll, among the millions who feel First Nations should pay taxes like the rest of us. Where is that coverage? Apparently, no space for that in politically correct sanitized coverage? Ho)

  4. Ijustdontknowanymore says:

The answer to the why is hiding in plain sight. First we are and have been living in the newer age of sensitivity and worsening political correctness. I think it trickles down from the learning centers and campuses of colleges and universities whereby speaking up and challenging is not fashionable, acceptable appropriate. Notice how politicians and they are the leaders and prime movers this garbage. Notice how many and most government leaders and even lower echelon leaders speakers etc. always start out there lead sentences by stating this not to put blame on the whole Muslim population and Islam as if we’re all stupid, intolerant, bigotted, racsist and uneducated western white dummies. The media people have been slowly brainwashed into submission to not speak up about anything that’s not in line with the political views of government. We know there is bad evil workings everywhere in all civilizations of all colors and stripes, so why not call it out when it’s at work. Doesn’t mean that the whole population should be condemned. It is a small portion of medieval backwards murderous radicalism, and we find that in all races where the religion is taken to extremist levels, but again why not as reporters, journalists, media in general and politicians it call out in non bias fashion. I believe everyone that’s regular, civilized thinking that get along ,are friends or not, families, mixed families, fellow employees and people in general of all creeds, color, and race should call out the pathetic gutless media people and most of all the ones who lead and cause it all, The Politicians that swill around in their selfish political ambition sewer swamp.

(Response: Indeed, we must nor tar the vast majority of any ethnic, religious or population anywhere for the disgraceful, violent actions of the minority in their midst. The problem is the media, from my own observations, is giving a pass to radical, intolerant violent Islamic groups, turning a blind eye to their actions, their openly stated vows or whitewashing them and, in some cases, the media is even defending/promoting and pushing their agendas. Ho)

  5. Art Smith says:

Hi Harvey, I am sorry, but I must disagree with you. The CBC must be completely gutted, and all the employees fired. Let them spend some time in purgatory, then, if they seem to have seen the error their ways, maybe rehired on a much different level. Not necessarily lower pay, but a different scale of oversight, which may enforce the standard, which should be adhered to. That standard being, report the news in a fair minded manner, and don’t inject your own personal biases into it.
Also, I would like to see the public service bureaucrats, in each department, reminded forcefully, that they work for the public, not the Liberal Party. The heads of each department, should be put on a short leash, and be warned to get their acts together and get departments trimmed to be much more efficient than they certainly appear to be now.
One other thing with the bureaucrats too, no more working from home! We are paying for thousands of square feet of office space that the government aren’t using. If they don’t use it , maybe we don’t need them either.

(Response: Although I have been highly critical of CBC for its terrible bias on both local and international issues… and almost daily disgrace to journalistic principles of balance, fairness and impartiality (as required by their own printed Broadcast Code of Standards!!!) I still believe the public broadcaster performs a valuable role in serving areas and communities private broadcasters ignore or under-cover. Yes, the managing brass should be changed; yes, many of the propagandizing producers should be fired; and, yes, several biased “reporters” who disrespect their listeners/viewers/journalism by pushing agendas (their own or that of their producers) with one-sided visuals, scripts, interviews should be sent packing…. but not complete gutting. Just imagine the union grievances/process/lawsuits that would cause! And there are still, I believe, some good, honest real journalists at the CBC: the government, however, has to develop some backbone and get rid of the far left socialist revolutionaries and bigots who are polluting this formerly widely watched and respected public product! Ho)

  6. Ijustdontknowanymore says:

Yes this situation is bad and has taken deeper root since J Trudeau first took office. It seemed like everything crazy followed suite, but I think we have a much worse and first time Immediate and Existential threat at hand not only to us but our alliances and freinds in the world from the nut and his Kool aid drinking party thug suckholes, and by all dictionary definitions, Trump is actually carrying on as a traitor might do, by betraying his allies and even his own country to the enemy Russia (actually Putin mainly), by enabling cavorting, glad handing, even assisting and influencing said enemy to freely carry on attacking a freindly country of the U.S. and allies such as Ukraine is, by falsely blaming them for starting the war when it is only defending itself and by doing so, putting the European allies and Nato alliances and defensive lines in a precarious and more dangerous situation. He is treating Russia the adversary as if they, Putins thugs, had justification to invade and cause war and continue by way of Trumps enabling the enemy by playing long with false threats of repercussions that allows the enemy to carry on. A first time U.S. President who is basically performing and acting out in all ways that that really does fit all definitions and checks all boxes that gives a portrayal of a real traitor. You cant make this up. I didnt make up the definitions, there right there for anyone to look up and see in plain easily explained words. I dont think he is being played like a fiddle as much as we think. Somewhat maybe, but this nut knows what hes doing and I think he gets off on it. Putin doesn’t even register as a war criminal on Trumps brain because how can a pychopath of his level think that. But, just like ours and the United States chicken little big media and even most all politicians and leaders are to spineless to say so. So getting back to this story about our own media and politicians not speaking out enough about extremist Muslim brutality downplayed by our idiotic media is important but known for a long time and it I good to remind us once in awhile to knock us out of even our complacency, but what’s going on with the that chaos causing pychco and a spineless enabling and seemingly normalizing American media is also phenomanol and much more upsetting. But sure, it all bad stuff.

(Response: I don’t know why/how so many incidents of the deliberate targeting/murder of Christians is ignored by Canada’s media. Just think if a mob of extreme right wing Christians in any country attacked murdered 49 Muslims in a mosque and burned it down: think it would be downplayed or ignored? But when it’s crazed Islamists that do that, it makes few or in some media no headlines! In fact, Global Christian Relief estimates 340 million Christians faced oppression/violence worldwide last year alone: https://globalchristianrelief.org/christian-persecution/stories/shocking-statistics-on-christian-persecution/. And as I noted in my blog piece, Open Doors Intl says eight of the Top Ten countries where Christians are persecuted are Islamic nations. But for Canada’s media …that’s not newsworthy? Ho)

  7. Mike says:

I grew up watching the news starting in elementary school. BCTV was my go to. Then Global took it over and it was never the same. There has always been some bias for sure. However over the last several years Canadian MSM has descended into propaganda and has become unwatchable. I haven’t watched s single newscast in over five years. Don’t miss it at all.

(Response: It’s so obvious how one-sided so many of the stories are, on a whole variety of topics… domestic politics, social issues and international conflicts. I believe blame lies in several areas: biased news directors, newspaper editors, acquiescent or also biased producers, disgraceful reporters taking advantage of their privileged position to push their own beliefs or ethnic causes … and lousy top management that lets them all get away with it. Of course, educated and perceptive readers/listeners/viewers are not fooled …and low ratings and readership testify to that! But as a retired ink-stained newspaper wretch and long experienced TV story teller, it really bothers me: we wouldn’t have even thought of pushing our own agendas or prejudices …and wouldn’t have been on the payroll very long if we tried! There are still lots who believe/understand that …but today they are unfortunately few and far between. Ho)

  8. Marge says:

We have a Liberal government that basically supports this crap so that they can woo Muslim voters. We have a media bought and paid for by the Liberals so what else would you expect? There is no accountability – actually there is, only if you tout the party line and propaganda of the party in power! Wokeism rules and strange as it may seems, it supports the Islamic cause without thinking of its consequences. It can never be challenged and is happily working its way into the education system, where our children will be sold this garbage. The media is like the old communism propaganda. They do what they are told and happily ignore the truth. We are doomed! (BTW even you yourself wanted the only political leader in Canada who is opposed to this crap to lose his political seat, so they got you too in a way! I am very glad despite it all that Pierre Poilievre is returning to Ottawa to fight against this stuff, aren’t you?)

(Response: I would not like to see any level of government interfering directly with the editorial slant of private broadcasters or newspapers… even those showing obvious bias. The readers. listeners and viewers are already doing that by turning them off (Global, CTV) or not reading (Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, National Post etc.) But CBC is heavily taxpayer funded/subsidized and so far left biased, I have often referred to it as the unofficial voice of the NDP. It’s coverage of the Gaza war seems so totally one sided to me, it’s as if they are determined to save Hamas so the terrorists can kill again and again; their coverage of Islamic attacks on Christians or the fact that eight of the Top Ten nations where Christians are being attacked, murdered or mistreated is almost nil. Now that Poilievre is coming back, I hope the Conservatives start focusing again on the CBC … not to totally defund it (I still support its original intent) but to call out its bias, its propaganda style and demand a cleanup of the PUBLIC broadcaster! Ho)

  9. RIsaak says:

Sadly in my opinion, today’s Canadian media is completely morphing into a news making entity, not resembling the news reporting identity of yesteryear.

I will not drone on, but there are so many stories which seem to have very pronounced editorial biases or convenient omissions. So many chances to go after politicians & the bureaucratic hoard, but look a fashion show or a few new adjectives to describe a rain storm or windy day?

Can we do any worse? We subsidize this group, has that improved coverage?

(Response: It’s a start if viewers and readers are at least realizing how they are being propagandized by one side of any issue instead of fairly giving both (or several) sides …and letting their viewers/readers decide for themselves. I would suggest people become much more active as well …phoning in the objections when they spot bias or writing in to protest. It actually feels good to do so! One criticism may not work, but if they get many, they do start to realize they are turning readers/viewers OFF … and lost subscribers or viewers/listeners costs them advertising bucks. Ho)

  10. Ijustdontknowanymore says:

What can ya do. We’re dealing with complete spineless wonders in the media world of our Canadian Radio, T.V. and Newspaper. It’s as simple as that. Not much else to say about these pathetic shirking twits. That was short and sweet.

(Response: I’ve written personal complaints a few times when I thought coverage went beyond the pale in being outrageously biased/unfair. Have to admit only once did I effect change: the rest of the times I just got defensive responses or no response at all! But I feel better when at least I let them know their disgraceful coverage is being noticed. Ho)

  11. Horace B. says:

While I was looking for reasons for this journalistic blind spot, it was suggested that such subjects were too geopolitically distant from us to be of enough interest. Sounds unlikely.

I could suggest that some french literary theorists started it all, or that this blindness might be some sort of cultural death wish, or worse–I hope our journalists are not somehow intimidated by these sorts of activists?

Islam is by far the most violent of all the major religions, in terms of conversion by the sword. Historian, Will Durant claims that 15 to 25 million deaths were caused by Islam in the growth of their empire of conversion. Whereas Christianity, the second most violent religion in my opinion, caused 4 to 8 million deaths, deliberately and not by disease.

Now that our federal government seems keen on having more Islamic amongst us, we would be wise to keep all this potential religious aggression in mind. I’d like to think our descendants will still have the freedoms we’ve enjoyed.

And it goes without saying that most Muslims I know and meet are really, really nice!

(Response: Most people from EVERY group are nice and decent … and Muslims are no exception. But it’s clearly evident militant Islamist jihadists and oppressive regimes are still acting with great violence … but for some reason, in Canada, getting very little coverage. In this day and age of cell phone cameras, closed circuit television and Internet sharing, no place is too far away any more … and, if many other foreign news agencies are able to access the footage and stories, so could those in Canada …if they wanted to expose those stores. Clearly, though they are downplaying or ignoring an awful lot! Ho)

  12. Bendelmac says:

If it wasn’t for to you HO we would not know what the hell is going on
    Many thanks

(Response: Newspapers, radio and TV networks (through their producers, reporters, editors) should not push their own agendas/beliefs/prejudices. And there are still many REAL journalists who try to be fair and balanced. Watching TV or reading newspapers carefully, it doesn’t take much effort to discern the slant/bias. BUT the real damage and danger occurs when there is little or NO coverage of crimes and brutality like those I pointed to … and the truth gets censored or covered up completely. Ho)

  13. Bendelmac says:

I used to be very proud of our media for their investigative stories. Now I think media is controlled by those boycotting issues. Down south I believe control of the media will come soon via Trump. We have freedom but no coverage of what is happening outside of our boundaries……I have begun going from CTV to CNN to FOX to BBC….Trying to figure out what to believe is very frustrating.

(Response: Although retired (I really am! 🙂 ) I’m still a news junkie, so when I am home, I check out the local news (record Global and CTV) and speed through them for the few things that interest) but also flip through CBC News Network, BBC, CNN, Fox, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, i24 (Israel), Internet news and a few newspapers … to cumulatively figure out what is really going on. It’s a lot of work, but I think I end up with a pretty complete picture …and, sometimes, a lot of frustration at how bad some them spin, spin, spin! Ho)

  14. D. M. Johnston says:

What, offend Muslims, can’t have that can we. We cannot offend anyone these days, unless you are white, then offend away.

The Canadian media is no longer a news media source, rather it is entertainment, like their US brethren.

Real news is gone the way of the Dodo bird, real journalistic insight is as rare as an honest politcian.

Sadly our current educational system doesn’t teach people to research, but to do as they are told, that cognitive thinking is a waste of time.

We are living in the world of 1984, where un-news is news and un-truth is truth and history is being rewritten right under our noses and “who controls the past, controls the future, who controls the present, controls the past”.

(Response: All the many examples I cited in my piece have been extensively covered in foreign media but just barely or not at all here in Canada. I don’t know if they are intimidated or are taking sides … but there definitely is a shortfall in coverage of radical Islam’s continuing oppression and war against ANY alternative religions or even alternative views within their own. And when Canadians are denied the truth or given censored versions, they can be misled into taking manipulated opinions and positions. Ho)

    • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

I believe most Canadian media is intimidated and frightened of their own shadows, because they opened themselves up to the influences of the extremist activist style of progessive politics and influences that has infected many of our politicians. I always say it’s weak government leaders that are the main cause and media leaders and personalities followed suite. They’re all worried about their image, ratings, loss of votes, their butts, their jobs, their positions on the ladder etc. and the smart strong willed intimidating extreme elements and groups know how easily they can play on the vulnerabilitie of the weaker side, like the media leaders and political leaderships and politicians, and they know it, and thus play them like a fine tuned fiddle. The re- education and brainwash campuses of the colleges and universities don’t help whereby the many crazy new age influences come from that infects the up and coming future journalists and future politicians and leaders. Itsclike an insidious infection. And I sometimes liken the insanity of many people in media and especially government to making thier own rope and bringing their own rope to their own hanging and trying to influence society to follow their example. No thanks, we just need the stronger willed majority to not follow them in their mad qeust to destroy this society and democracy because of their suicidal tendencies. We don’t have to take it. They would have us brainwashed to think we have to. The age of just do and don’t think isn’t here yet, but it’s creeping up.

(Response: People elsewhere (if not in Canada) are noticing how radical Islamists are indeed still active and determined to spread their ideology … and intolerance, especially against Christians/Jews. Just two days ago, an opinion piece in South Africa Business Day warned that “jihadists plan to wipe Christianity from vast regions of Africa and the Middle East”. You can read that here: https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/opinion/letters/2025-08-20-letter-anc-ignores-islamic-violence/. Ho)

A horrifying article for sure, and not only is the ANC turning a blind eye, the strongly equipped western powers and Canada will be turning a blind eye also. Rwanda revisited but genocide exponentially multiplied across a continent. What Canadian politicians and government of the time, even the US and the UN and its powerful community of nations ( actually mostly the unwilling) let happen is so shameful and disgusting, there are more colorful fitting words to describe them of course. Poor Romeo Dallaire and the brave soldiers under his command. The hero’s who were let down and hung out to dry were truly the hero’s while the no good rotten fancy suited cowardly leaders of the time thousands of miles back home played their politics and made themselves blind to it all. They’ll probably do it again. I mean aren’t they the same weaklings that were in at the time, as a party.
