BC Conservatives’ Major Blunder!

In politics … and comedy … timing is critical! But no one in the BC Conservative Party should be laughing at how the vote results/announcement of their new Leader were rolled out Saturday.

The Conservatives, although Official Opposition in the BC Legislature, are barely known by most British Columbians … I’d bet most could not name the past Leader, the new contenders for the job, the party’s critic or more than one or two of their MLAs, if that!

Saturday, the Conservatives were given a FREE gift by Global BC, my old alma mater, when the province-wide station pre-empted its entire 6 p.m. Newshour to broadcast LIVE from the Conservatives’ Convention where the ballot results of their Leadership Election would be announced.

Trust me: given current budget and staffing restraints, that was a real public service to dedicate to the event a full one-hour broadcast (microwave or satellite equipment/technicians; on-site camera, lighting, audio crews; master control staff; on-location host Sophie Lui, Legislative Reporter Ben O’Hara-Byrne, three guest panelists and, in Victoria, Legislative Bureau Chief Keith Baldrey). No other TV broadcaster did that.

And then the Conservatives blew it!

The party’s new Leader had been chosen by members voting on-line over several days, with the ranked-balloting ending at 8 p.m. Friday.

Let’s keep it real: the results of the computerized vote could have been collated and announced within minutes.

But the Conservatives brass decided, quite understandably, to hold a large public event of supporters Saturday in the hall of the Rocky Mountaineer Train Station in Vancouver to announce the results and crown their new Leader … TELEVISED LIVE by Global BC in its top-rated 6 p.m Newshour slot.

What a coup!

Until the Conservatives shot themselves in the foot.

The Newshour went on air as scheduled; Lui and her panel suitably announced to the viewing audience what was happening; and, then filled airtime waiting for the results; and waited, and waited; and waited.

The First Ballot results were not announced until 6:35 p.m!

I can tell you I really doubt, in today’s 150-channel universe, many of the Newshour’s 100,000 (?) weekend viewers who tuned in a 6 p.m. were still watching at 6:15 p.m. … still waiting for FIRST BALLOT results.

Click! Probably by 6:10! Click! Click! Click!

And it got worse!

The Second Ballot results weren’t announced until 6:45 p.m.; the Third Ballot results at 6:52 p.m. … and the final, Fourth Ballot results at 7:01 p.m.

But The Newshour had gone OFF the air at 6:59 p.m. to return to regular programming.

LOL!!!

So the party, that wants to convince British Columbians it can run the province, couldn’t even announce its new Leader … Kerry-Lynne Findlay … and make sure her speech got carried province-wide before the NEWSHOUR went off the air!

Newshour viewers … any who stayed for the full hour … missed her entire speech! When the party could have collated the results shortly after 8 p.m Friday and surely have announced it all and given their new leader province-wide Newshour LIVE airtime before 7 p.m. Saturday.

The” past-7 p.m” coverage did continue on Global’s BC-1 24-hour news station, but I doubt, apart from political and news junkies, the audience there was anything like that of the Newshour on Global BC.

Not an auspicious beginning for the new Conservative Leader!

As for Findlay herself, she’s carrying lots of baggage and may seem too far right for most British Columbians; but David Eby is also burdened down these days , so should be an interesting battle.

And DRIPA could end up being Findlay’s most powerful weapon!

I was away when this aired but from the sounds of it, yikes!
I admit I didn’t know too much about Kerry-Lynne Findlay so I did some research. It does sound like she comes with some baggage. A 51% to 49% win is not exactly a ringing endorsement.
I always wonder why so many lawyers turn to politics?
Personally I would have liked to see someone younger win. ( I am in my 70’s, so…) Maybe someone with some fresher, newer ideas, energy or outlook?

(Response: Well, the NDP chose somebody younger who had fresher newer ideas, and look where they have ended up! I personally thought Black would’ve been a better choice… and I bet the NDP were happy that Findlay won.But there is so much unhappiness with Eby and the NDP, she could just pull this off… unless Eby goes or another more centrist alternative emerges between now and election day. Ho)

  2. Nonconfidencevote. says:

    You are 100% correct Harvey.
I lasted 10 minutes, Jumped back in at the 45 minute mark for 1 minute and was gone.

A true “amateur hour” if there ever was one.

(Response: Exactly. And unless I missed it, apart from me, no media types have even asked Findlay if she was aware of what was going on and how they can run a government if they can’t even properly run a one-hour coronation offering prime TV exposure.. Ho)

  3. Keith says:

Had to chime in again Harvey. LOL

Although the conservatives could have done much better on the timing, the N.D.P. did a masterpiece of timing around the vote.

Friday afternoon ( A.K.A. garbage day) after the Leg. had closed for the spring sitting and won’t be back until Oct. 19. Ravi Khalon and Anne Kang held a presser where they both looked like they wanted to be somewhere else to say that the projected costs for holding the 7 fifa matches would be somewhere between 685-729 million dollars – or about 100 million per game, up from 82 million. However, the spin was although the costs increased the return would be better and just wait, five years from now we would be laughing all the way to the bank, based on N.D.P. over the rainbow economics and hot air and high hopes.

The media coverage on that announcement was pretty short lived due to the pre. and post coverage of the leadership race, send out a couple of N.D.P. tweets for the media to digest, and by Monday it was forgotten. Mission accomplished.

(Response: Governments love to drop bad/negative news late Fridays (especially just before a long weekend) or when other major news is in the spotlight… can’t blame them. And it worked: have seen very little outrage or questioning of this latest “news” that the ESTIMATE of the cost of the games is already up more than $100 Million … and the event hasn’t even begun! Just wait till they get the bill for police “overtime”! Ho)

  4. Not Sure says:

I am curious about your take on this topic. If this is a MAJOR blunder what would you call DRIPA or fast ferries or SNC Lavalin or the Muslim hotline, or the HST debacle or Campbell driving drunk or any other number of scandals and goof ups by previous and current political parties/leaders.

Findlay has plenty of time before the next election to make up for this missed opportunity to gain some measure of exposure. In the long run, I doubt that she has lost one vote as a result.

After the NDP selected Avi Lewis, you were quick to skewer him and his policies. If I remember correctly, you were mainly supportive of Mark Carney as the new Liberal leader although again if I remember correctly you did say that you supported the Conservatives in the last federal election despite some misgivings about Poilievre

But here, really nothing about Kerry-Lynne Findlay. Just that she carries a lot of baggage, none of which you itemize.

She did not win very convincingly. 51% to 49% on the fourth! ballot. Both Carney and Poilievre had convincing first ballot victories. Avi Lewis also won on the first ballot with 56%. So Findlay is leading a party that appears somewhat divided.

But so what? When Eby and Carney became leaders of their parties they also became Premier and Prime Minister respectively and all the scrutiny that brings. All Findlay has to do is be a credible critic for the next two+ years.

And two years is a long time. Will Dripa still be an issue? Will FIFA even be remembered? Will the Ksi Lisims sale of LNG to Germany flip the fortunes of the NDP? Will Eby still be leader? Plenty can change.

(Response: There’s no monopoly on blunders by politicians or governments. It just boggles the mind, though, when the FACTS come out, about how incompetent (or sometimes how partisan, ideological or corrupt) our elected and appointed officials can be … and never seem to learn (or just don’t want to change). But I believe the blunder by the BC Conservatives in this latest case was inexcusable and an example of terrible incompetence. Even governing Premiers are lucky to rarely get 15-minutes of FREE air time on The Newshour to address the whole province. Here, they had a gift of a full hour devoted just to name their new leader and let him/her speak uninterupted and unquestioned for almost as long as she wanted …and they blew it!! Not only did they miss announcing Findlay had won …not a word of her speech made it on The Newshour that night. HUGE blunder!! You may not understand …but I’d bet Findlay does! Ho)

  5. Ijustdontknowanymore says:

Been busy but I do have a little comment. I think it’s good that Supreme Court made a much needed judgement on the fee simple and property rights of owners that protects them. But now it the investments from business interests that may still be in doubt by many because of that activist a..hole Eby and his clowns. One more thing and I believe it is important, and something I’ve touched on before. How on earth is it okay for the Ndp started under Horgan and incompetent Eby to have signed off basically behind 95 percent of BCers backs just as Dripa was, seven percent for 25 years of casino revenues to FN when these revenues are still for all who are residents of BC. How is that right. If we can talk about Dripa and all the varying giving in and unfair give aways by this disgraceful and disrespectful jerk we call a Premier and not talk about this insane 7 percent casino revenue give away for 25 years that is supposed to be all the peoples revenue then this in itself is such hypocrisy.

(Response: If you think the casino “revenue-sharing” with FN is indefensible, I hesitate to point out …but I will (LOL!) … that the BC government is giving the FN $18 MILLION to organize their own FIFA-related events/celebrations etc. What a crock! I wonder if the REAL soccer fan communities bin our midst are getting that much: the Italians, Brazilians, UK, etc! Ho)

    • Edgar says:

From my reading of the the issue (Dwight Newman Legal Scholar) the Supreme Court just ruled on which of the “two major Indigenous rights cases over this two-week period warrant attention and are important, but it is important to understand them carefully and not overstate their implications. ” In the legal process the Court of Appeal is the corrective body for decision that may be in error, the Supreme Court addresses the most pressing legal questions. It may because in the Cowichan decision with reference to the UNDRIP clauses was thought to be the more pressing of the two cases and a Supreme Court ruling may more lasting implications.

(Response: The ONLY action that will relieve the dangers/worries about DRIPS …not only for BC property owners but investors too … is REPEAL. DRIPS must go: surely BC people and government can find other sources than the ridiculous oft-disgraced UN to deal with our concerns/issues! Ho)

      • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

The only action is for more people to speak up and change the government instead of so many sitting on their complacent butts on election day and complaining about who else do we vote for, or theres no use because their all the same, or better the devil we know. Well the devil I know is ripping off 95 percent of the population of BC and handing our revenue treasure over to 5 percent and calling it reconciliation and scaring away business. I just dont think this Supreme Court ruling on these land ownership issues are going to Bo enough to stop the anxiety and qeull peoples and investors doubts and concern. This messed up Eby bunch is going go all in with more troubling policies if he’s given the green light from voters again. It blows my mind that the we don’t want this Eby wrecking ball continues to swing and destroy but people a small portion of people who are registered to vote actually vote. The only way to stop any of this and see what can be changed, and yes hopefully to the better is to vote these scammers out. How do we know unless we try. Complacency and bitching from our comfy couches on voting day won’t do it, and as Harvey stated the only way this ripoff will stop is to stop this Dripa insanity. A change in government who wants to throw it out is the only way because they make the leglilisltion and laws, and the courts only interpret them for judgement in the court. I feel these troubles will continue and get worse if something doesn’t break like kicking out these bums and seeing what the next but different party might do. It may all be one big lie but how do we know if we don’t try. Enough of this keeping the devil we know attitude, that so many people go on about. I used to be of that thinking and complacent and didn’t know much about this stuff, but no more after what I see going on with our money that is being supposed to be for all of us.

    • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

I didnt know that. That’s absolutely crazy. So I wonder how many people actually don’t know about these things. It would interesting to know an approximate percentage of British Coumbians at least. The Casino revenue sharing of 7 percent for just one year works out to around one hundred million a year. That’s roughly 3 billion in twenty five years of the revenue pool. That’s of course on top of all the other money err, ahh, taxes given. Does this not blow anyone’s mind. This was all done when Horgan and Eby we’re the masters of under writing this insanity as they did on many other fronts.
So, I will have to take a chance with the Conservatives, even if they haven’t quite got their act quite together, because Eby is out of hand and brakes must be applied and the Conservatives may the only ones that we might have a chance to do that. I personally as I am quite sure many would like to see a lot these obscenities along with many other ridiculous things across the prizm of society in general reversed or even stopped by a government with leaders that really truly do have the guts to do it and stand up hard to those Eby bums in the house in the meantime. It’s all gone way to far. Even all the things this moron for a Premier is doing himself has gone way to far now and things have gotten worse. I never had a problem with reconciliation as it was meant to be and layed down long ago but I dont know what to call it anymore, but it’s sure not reconciliation anymore and this sure isn’t the NDP I recognize anymore. I dont even recognize it as a legitimate government anymore because it has no function as an accountable government for all.

(Response: Real conciliation would have been a good thing, if BOTH sides confronted, admitted their shortcomings/failures of the past and came together to forge a new path forward together. But that’s not what happened: it became a one-way self-hating monologue by the far left woke whites, taken advantage by militant FN activists to shake down taxpayers for hundreds of millions of dollars … some of which sure looks like a HUGE scam to me. (Found/unearthed ANY missing kids yet … anywhere … let alone proof they were “murdered” ???) And Eby’s stubborn retention of DRIPA will make things worse .. MUCH worse! Ho)

      • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

And when people do stand up and speak up and be critical or disagree with what’s going on then they’re called rascist, bigots and what ever else can be leveled at them. Its such a sick and disgusting chaotic society we’ve become. It’s politicians like Eby and the extremist troublemakers that have filled the ranks who have caused these things by way of their selfish shameful ways in governance. But no matter what more people must stand up and speak up and not let the blind cancel culture nuts control the room.
But now, back to the casino revenue issue if I may. I even happen to be of the opinion that Eby and his lead troops in the financial and gaming side of government are deliberately in complicity, allowing and turning a blind eye to the addiction peddling to our young people and especially our younger people, to on line gambling now. I am of the opinion the Eby government, and the dirty BCLC and greedy owner operators are all apart of it. I realize I have spoken of the Casino revenue issue but I just don’t think it gets enough traction and maybe possibly many people just dont want to hear these unpleasant things about their gaming fun. No ,no not that. I dont want to hear that. But this is much worse than was the money laundering issues under the BC Liberals because its a direct intentional and personal attack on people themselves to try to addict them by way of the gaming systems really quite smart and remarkable way how they market all of it, and that’s exactly what I pick up on whats happening in gaming now. Bigger revenues generated now to be able to share to Ebys special interest groups and communities. Well, there is our BCNDP government for the working class and hard at work for the people of BC. This cabal of rotten apples governing now make the BC Liberals look like minor offenders when they reigned.

      • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

Yup reconciliation has been turned into a huge legalized scam operation all set up behind closed doors. This pack of selfish activist nut jobs in government now is in no way a for the people of BC government. They are just not a legitimate government in my view. A legitimate government doesn’t do this kind of shit to the vast majority of the provinces people, or at least it shouldn’t at all if it has any ounce of respect of what a governments duties are. I do love the self hating monologue line that describes these Eby shiesters and scanmmers to a tee. The only way this craziness will have a chance stop is for the people to stop it at the polls, and it surely won’t happen from the couch on that day either. I wished it could happen sooner, but that’s democracy. Or is it.

  6. Donald M Johnston says:

One just has to hand it to the Conservatives of better known as “Maple MAGA’s”, their newly elected leader is, well, under investigation.

“Rob Shaw: Kerry-Lynne Findlay facing federal election probe
BC Conservative leadership candidate faces allegations related to undeclared campaign services and foreign nationals canvassing.

BC Conservative leadership candidate Kerry-Lynne Findlay is under investigation by the federal election watchdog over expenses relating to her unsuccessful federal re-election campaign in 2025, Business in Vancouver has learned.

The Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections, which oversees federal election laws, is currently conducting interviews and requesting information relating to Findlay’s campaign.

“Our office received a complaint from Elections Canada alleging that a candidate’s campaign received approximately $75,000 in undeclared and unpaid services from a corporation, purportedly in exchange for promised federal contracts,” reads an email from Stéphane Bonin, a senior investigator in the office, dated last week.

“It is further alleged that approximately 50 individuals, described as appearing to be foreign nationals without legal status, were canvassing on behalf of the candidate.””

Just what you want as party leader.

I hope there is a credible “Green” candidate in my riding………………………….

(Response: Have to be careful here: an investigation does not mean guilt. But certainly, if any charges are laid … and guilt is established, that would be a disaster. Ho)

    • Donald M Johnston says:

There are several posts on YouTube, listing the the various news items from major media sources on Findlay (the receipts are in the posts) and her tenure in politics.

It reads like a very bad novel. If anyone wants to read, they are easy to find.

I also have my own sources from people I deal with in the “transit” game, who have had some very unpleasant things to say about her (and her husband who is a sitting MLA).

Basically, in my book, Findlay and her Conservatives are unfit for office and those who think I am going to ink my vote for the other guys, I also think Eby and the NDP are unfit for office.

Which means, unless there is a credible 3rd party to vote in protest, I have been, once again disenfranchised.

Maybe this what these extreme fringe parties want?

Turn the voter off completely so there is a very low bar of voters and a good chance to win.

(Response: Stand by …maybe there will be a centrist free enterprise alternative formed/resurrected? With Sturko, Elliott, Black? Could have a chance … unless turns out Gordon Campbell, Kevin Falcon, Christy Clark and Stockwell Day are behind them! LOL! Ho)

      • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

That sounds like an interesting proposition. I like it. We do have to get back to the business of the peoples province.

      • Donald M Johnston says:

Campbell and Clark are toxic, and with Falcon, he is radio active due to the fiances or lack there of, from the former BC United/BC Liberal Party.

Why, oh why can’t the Conservative party smell the coffee and picked a middle of the road sort of person which would attract the middle ground.

As it stands, Eby is a sitting duck, with Dirpa and the compounding scam with deferred taxes, which is tantamount to elder abuse.

The joker in the deck is the FIFA games and the huge costs involved. If i were a civic, provincial or federal politician, I would not be seen dead at these games, as they are fast becoming a fast ferry sort of thing and just may become a FastFerry “Albatross” around a politicians neck!

Again, I have not heard one positive thing about the the FIFA games at the local coffee bean, where sports tends to be the main topic, with DRIPA a close second.

        Keeps life interesting, doesn’t it!

(Response: You wonder why parties just can’t pick middle of road leaders? It’s because people who join parties, become active, attend conventions etc are often active ideologues, pushing ideas, philosophies, agendas … not just bread and butter concerns of ordinary voters. That’s how you end up with leaders like Singh, Avi Lewis to make a point but who I’m sure the delegates knew perfectly well had no hope of ever becoming PM. Findlay sure does not seem to be middle of the road either … but maybe not too far right that she would have no hope of winning, especially given the sinking popularity of Eby/NDP. Ho)

  7. Keith says:

There was a lot of dead time before the results were announced which Sophie and the panelists et. al. were struggling to fill the time with some commentary.

What I found puzzling was there was a room full of conservative movers and shakers that A) global could have interviewed to fill in the gaps, and B) the conservatives could have jumped on the opportunity to set up some interviews to pump up their brand and add to the hype. Unless there was some production limits on interviews or the conservatives didn’t want anyone talking I don’t know, but It was an opportunity missed by both groups. The only interviews were two at the end of the process when the results were being announced and had to cut away to get the numbers.

As to the result I agree it will be a lot of fun to watch how this unfolds especially who in the conservatives will take a dive so Kerry-Lynne Findlay can run in a constituency that would elect a fire hydrant if it ran as a conservative, how she will keep the caucus together and how long Eby waits to call the by-election. Looking down the road a bit, despite the glee the NDP have with the result will they want to take a chance at the next general election with Eby at the helm, and if not, who. ?

(Response: if the Conservatives had their act together, they should have timed their ballot announcements to start around 6:10 PM and end by 6:40 PM so that the Newshour could have carried Findlay’s entire victory speech. Clearly somebody screwed up. Meanwhile I predict her husband Brent Chapman will step down from his seat to make way for his wife And I also believe it would not be a good move for Eby to drag out the calling of the by-election for as long as possible: better to get her in the Legislature, where the NDP can have at her over and over again on her previous statements, stands and actions, Ho)

    • Stu de Baker says:

      Insightful and entertaining comments, Keith.

Findlay is just a youngster to me, yet I wonder at the scarcity of willing young blood. 71 is hardly in one’s prime.

I agree with HO, hubby will take the fall. It’s such a convenient move all around.

Also, I don’t know if the NDP can recover from Eby and be viable through a couple of more election cycles, leaving more space for a good young centrist third party leader.

(Response: The smartest thing the NDP can do is replace Eby with a new leader, offering a new “start” etc. The impression I get, even from people I know who have always voted NDP, is that Eby is now toxic. Ho)

  8. R says:

A tale of two time slots

    Ready fire aim

(Response: No wonder they missed their target! Ho)

  9. Stu de Baker says:

A third party need not split the vote. There are enough people, even party faithful who have had it with the NDP and Conservatives that a centrist with credibility might do very well, even if for only for one term.

I just can’t think of anyone who might be believable enough to do it.

Although at the moment, I imagine Daniel and Henrik would probably be a shoe in as Co-Premiers.

(Response: Wonder if Ian Black and Caroline Elliott are making phone calls to scope out the possibilities. Ho)

    • Stu de Baker says:

Christy Clark, the forever opportunist will pop up, if only to get her face before the camera for 15 minutes.

(Response: Watch Sturko … would love to know who she is talking to these days. Ho)

    • Stu de Baker says:

Did you notice Rustad on stage at the end? He looked really lost.

(Response: I saw him … looked a bit blank …but the on-stage “extra” I kept my eye on was Milobar … who seemed to try to smile, but I kept wondering what he really was thinking. 🙂 Ho)

  10. Stu de Baker says:

Findlay won by social media and that says a lot about attention spans and depth of comprehension.

I think she would be right at home in Surrey and near the end of the Global 1 coverage, Keith Baldrey said she would not be able to hold the caucus together.

It will now be interesting who will be the first reject to be brought back in; I say Dallas Brodie. Also who will give up their seat for her and will it be done willingly?

Lots of fun ahead with this one.

(Response: Bringing Brodie back in would be a terrible move. Findlay is already being tagged as far right: Brodie would make it worse… perhaps even encourage the resurrection of another center-right party (BC United or even Liberals). That would split the free enterprise bloc and be a gift to Eby/NDP. Yes … lots of fun ahead! Ho)

  11. Bendlemac says:

Am not a fan of Findlay … I tuned in early and was gone by 6.30 as it was taking too much of my time … as you said, they blew it .. and a major blow .. how long will Findlay last .. people I know who are strong Conservatives do not like the choice .. buy hey, that’s democracy and we get what we get …. will be interesting her up against Eby ..

(Response: Eby must be quite happy with Findlay as the Conservative choice: lots of baggage and, in my humble opinion, not a great speaker either. As for the broadcast fiasco of their announcement of vote results Saturday, I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Conservative offices as they discuss what happened… Naming the leader, and having her speak after the news hour was off air!😁 Ho)

  12. Gilbert says:

If Kerry-Lynne Findlay can unite the BC Conservatives, she should win easily. Of course the NDP will say she’s a far-right Trump style politician, but she’s not responsible for the huge deficit, the chaos surrounding property rights, the lack of economic development, the soft-on-crime policies and the focus on many issues that appeal to the far left. I wish her all the best because BC desperately needs a change of government.

(Response: I agree … if she/party stay away from far right divisive social remarks/stances and stick to issues of the economy, property rights, repeal DRIPA, crime and encouraging investment the public could buy into her platform. Ho)

  13. Donald M Johnston says:

You just got give it to the Maple MAGA’s, American politics are not Canadian politics, something they just cannot seem to understand..

Findly is another professional politician who has aligned herself with the American values anti-everything right. Eby must be singing hosannas at his good fortune.

BC will continue to amuse everyone at how utterly pathetic our provincial politcal parties are and that is going some, with events in Alberta.

DRIPA will be the only weapon the Conservatives have, but a recent Supreme court of Canada ruling has somewhat blunted that sword.

    We should rename BC “Blunderland”.

(Response: I don’t believe she is expressing just American values: there are many Canadians who also have the same feelings on social and economic issues.Findlay will resonate well with them, although she probably will have some difficulties with those voters more towards the center.. especially once the NDP steps up exposing things she said or backed in the past. But that promise to fully repeal DRIPA could end up being the Conservatives’ best weapon, especially along with promises to get tougher on crime. Ho)

    • Ijustdontknowanymore says:

Tough on crime should be a big theme and this review board process needs overhauling. Who and what are these people and the courts that let’s out child killers on even conditional disharges as they did with Allan Shoenbourne for just one recent example. It’s been all over the news. It’s absolutely sick. And the Cons if they get their act together could really pummel the NDP on Dripa. But it’s not just Dripa, it’s the sheer hundreds of millions of tax and revenue dollars from Ninety Five % of British Columbians being siphoned off to the reconciliation pit which is not reconciliation anymore. I’m certainly fed up with it all and if that turns into the vast percentage of voters along with the abominations of our disgusting justice and review board system then the Cons could have something. And this stuff has nothing to do with any of that MAGA and far right rascist crap that the anti democratic free speech activist extreme people seem so eager to use against any rightful opposition. The Ndp could get their act together also and stop this madness of handouts and giveaways and get tough on crime, but they won’t because their to deep and lost in their self loathing and hatred of themselves that they think all British Coumbians are on board and should sit in their little cult circle of self haters, hold hands, and hum together for forgiveness for all past sins of our forefathers and mothers and open our revenue bank account to pillage and blackmail for all past mistakes and sins in history past.

(Response: Canadians are too naive. Most don’t realize that the people who allegedly hired the Toronto “guns-for-hire” or fund/organize violent attacks/arsons against synagogues (in other countries, churches too) have NO respect for their own people’s human rights, let alone ours, and their ultimate goal is an Islamic caliphate, under which Sharia Law would prevail. The shooting of Const. Pinizzoto shows they are now HERE!! And I have no doubt that, where one “cell” has been exposed, there are no doubt lots more still working to undermine Canadian values, Canadian principles of tolerance and Canadian love for democracy. Ho)

  14. Ted Smith says:

    👍😂

(Response: 😁🤣😁 They sure messed up! Had a full hour of free air time on the Newshour … wonder what Findlay said when she found out her win and her speech happened after the Newshour went off the the air! 😁😁😁 Ho)

  15. Marge says:

I think it was Caroline Eliott who shot herself in the foot by aligning herself with the old “Liberal” government from the past. Somebody must have told her this was the way to go – unfortunately it wasn’t. Maybe because she is Kevin Falcon’s sister-in-law that she listened to horrible advice for campaigning. She even had Campbell, our former drunken Premier, supporting her and even worse Stockwell Day. I am surprised we didn’t see good old Christy Clark cheerleading for her. I think when she had the old guard support plus it was rumoured that she was behind the Findley smear campaign and the Rustad removal that people voted against her. ABC (anybody but Caroline) became the order of the day so now we have what we have. I think the new leader is a little too old for the job but I will give her the benefit of the doubt and wish nothing more than a strong routing of the NDP in BC. Plus maybe we will have a government that actually likes business and development instead of DRIPA and woke politics.

(Response: I certainly agree with you that Caroline Elliott probably did not benefit too much as a potential Conservative leader by having the likes of Gordon Campbell and Kevin Falcon being associated with her. I think the Campbell link would also have really not gone over well during an election if she had been elected leader. As for Findlay, I actually got along with her quite well when I was working and did several stories with her and her husband, Brent on the Musqueam lands where they lived, and she was spokesperson for the residents who were facing massive land increase charges by the natives. However, after she entered politics, she seems to have accumulated quite a lot of controversies that the NDP will no doubt bring to voters’ attention. Ho)
