Well, maybe we should at least be thankful, Prime Minister Mark Carney didn’t wave before the cameras … for the historical record … Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ signed letter promising peace, democracy and disarmament.
But Carney was certainly impressed!
“I spoke today to President Abbas at length to reaffirm his commitment,” Carney told reporters Thursday in announcing Canada’s intention to recognize Palestine as an independent state at September’s meeting of the UN General Assembly.
That “commitment” Carney said, was from the Palestine Authority “to fundamentally reform its government, to hold general elections in 2026, in which Hamas can play no part and to demilitarize the Palestinian state”.
Most Canadians have long supported an eventual “two state” solution between Israel and the Palestinians, each living in peace and security, side by side. However, realities on the ground between the two longtime foes, including armed conflicts, terrorist attacks, illegal West Bank settlements, extremists on both sides refusing to recognize each other’s right to exist had prevented previous Prime Ministers/governments … and most other Western democracies … from formally recognizing a Palestinian state.
Carney decided not to wait.
“Representations have been made several times both publicly spoken and in writing to me as Prime Minister and representations that I pressed Mr. Abbas in a lengthy and robust call today to confirm his intentions and ability to do so,” Carney added.
He’s dreaming!
The Palestinian Authority is notoriously corrupt, millions of dollars in foreign aid has disappeared into the pockets of its officials and supporters and Abbas hasn’t held general elections since he was elected in 2006! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_in_Palestine)
Any commitment from Abbas to Carney that things will now will change … even in writing … in my opinion, isn’t worth the paper it is written on!
It reminds me of the historic photo of UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in 1938 … waving his “Peace For Our Time” document signed by Herr Hitler himself … only months before the Second World War broke out.
How naieve can a Prime Minister be!
Well, you say, at least it’s worth a try: if Abbas/PA don’t fulfill their commitments, Canada will just not proceed with recognizing the Palestinian state.
Unfortunately, Carney got duped.
Canada’s intention, based on Abbas’ promises, is to recognize the Palestinian state FIRST ..in September. And then just HOPE Abbas/PA go ahead with their promised reforms and 2026 hold promised general elections and promised demilitarization.
And if they don’t, would Canada later withdraw its recognition? Of course not..
Carney was played … exposing his inexperience and naivete!
In fact, on the CBC News Network, less than an hour after Carney made his historical announcement, the Palestinian Ambassador to Italy (formerly the PA representative in Canada) Mona Abuamara shot down the idea of the PA holding elections.
“An election is not possible because of the occupation of East Jerusalem, so we wouldn’t be able to have elections without a capital, or in our capital and people from our capital being able to participate, not to mention anybody who is on the ballot would be in harms way of being arrested, so we need assurances of having those conditions met first before we are able to actually take on that course.”
In other words, for the PA to hold elections, Israel would first have to give up half of its capital, Jerusalem! ( Not bloody likely … any more than Canada would give up half of Ottawa to First Nations who have land claims for the Capital Region!)
So why did Carney make his announcement now?
First, there were the domestic considerations: rising anger in Canada over the terrible Gaza food situation and destruction; the increasing political power/influence of Canada’s 1.7 million Muslim population; mounting pressures from far left MPs within his own caucus; and the relentless anti-Israel pro-Palestinian one-sided reporting of the Gaza War on Canada’s media, especially the CBC.
Second, Carney caved to international pressures: France, with Europe’s largest Muslim population, 6.7 million, and President Macron’s own declining political popularity, became the first G-7 country to surrender to growing pressures/demonstrations and announce France will recognize Palestine as a state at the September UN meeting; then, the UK’s Keir Starmer, soon promised to do the same, unless Israel stops the war … and, thus, allow Hamas to survive/stay in power.
Carney, who has close relations with Macron and Starmer, decided to follow along, abandoning the long-held Canadian principle that a negotiated settlement/peace agreement should precede state recognition.
Carney blundered.
I agree with those who believe unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian state, while the war against Hamas continues and without a peace treaty, plays right into the hands of the terrorist groups..
“The decision of the Carney Liberals to recognize a Palestinian state now … without peace talks or a rejection of terror … rewards violence, not peace,” Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre commented after the announcement.
What other message could it possibly send to Arab populations, not just in the West Bank and Gaza, but in other vulnerable neighbouring states as well: TERRORISM WORKS!
In fact, that has already happened.
Hamas official Ghazi Hamad was interviewed in Lebanon interview Saturday following Carney’s announcement: “The initiative by several countries to recognize a Palestinian state is one of the fruits of October 7. We proved that victory over Israel is not impossible, and our weapons are a symbol of Palestinian dignity.”
“Without our weapons, no one would be looking in our direction,” Hamad added, according to the Foundation for the Defence of Democracies.
France, UK and Canada waving the white flag clearly is not working.
Germany had a better idea.
“Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, ahead of a two-day trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories, said his government won’t deviate from its goal of a two-state solution, adding that “for Germany, the recognition of a Palestinian state is rather the end of the process,” Bloomberg News reported Thursday.
Exactly!
Recognition of a Palestinian state should come AFTER the Gaza war ends, AFTER Abbas/PA bring in democratic reforms, AFTER the Palestinians hold elections, AFTER the Israelis do too; and then AFTER a negotiated peace agreement.
Carney/Starmer/Macron’s capitulation to set up a Palestinian state without a peace treaty and while Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the PFLP terrorist groups are still heavily armed and vow to fight on, will make things worse.
And not even Carney waving a copy of his “Peace For Our Time” letter, personally signed by Mahmoud Abbas, will help.
Happy BC Day! Happy Pride!

Comment from the guy you all love to hate: “Holding a worship concert in a church gets an immediate police swarm, fines and censorship. A Jewish father violently assaulted in front of his child? Police delays and almost 24 hours of silence from the Liberal government. What is happening to our country?” Pierre Poilievre
Sure speaks the truth, doesn’t he? If this had been a Muslim attacked, Carney would have been out there in seconds condemning it. But because it “doesn’t matter” in his books, silence as long as possible. Kind of creepy what’s going here right now, don’t you think?
(Responses: That is one of things I like about Poilievre: he understands and speaks the hard truths about the terrible situation in the Mid East, without caving to the million Muslim voters, the pro-Palestinian pro-Hamas agitators, violent mob or their anti-Israel media co-conspirators. Ho)
It reminds me of the churches that were burnt and vandalized. Gerald Butts said that the acts were understandable. I doubt he’d have said that if the attacks had been mosques and Sikh temples.
Regarding the Jewish father who was assaulted, the person responsible for the attack should face serious consequences. With the current government, though, one that is famous for being very soft on crime, I’m not convinced that will be the case.
If anything, Canadians have been snookered by Mark Justin Trudeau Carney. This is still the same Trudeau bunch who are going to continue to make Canada worse in all ways since they started swinging the wrecking ball in 2016. Just like Trudeau, not one iota of respect, care, or moral compass for the plight of seniors, the sinking and bankrupting of more annd more middle class working people and families, the poor, and Canadians safety and protection in general. And like Trudeau, Carney has shown he is ready willing and able to continue the message Canada is be open ground for more adversity, troublemaking and clashes of cultures and peoples, and much more against people of Jewish decent in Canada itself and all the while crapping all over his own fellow Canadians peace and safety and security. He is following the extremist Trudeaus policies of giving sway to extremist activist elements of all varieties to cause more trouble. What does one really call political such as Trudeau, Carney and others that do these things to their own. What name s and titles would be fitting. Would be interesting.

(Response: Well, I’m glad you’re reading my blog. But this is Canada …so I won’t respond unless you submit your comment in either of OUR two Official languages! Ho)
“Diversity is our strength” in this glorious “Post National State” that our former Prime Minister so naively envisioned.
No pride of country. No nationalist flag waving. Just “citizens of the world.”
When has that even happened in 5000 years of recorded history?
A “Post Nation State”.
While ignoring ancient hatreds that carry over to Canada.
Delusional , manic , wishful thinking by an inept former PM.
We want all the worlds people.
Not all the world’s problems.
(Response: Good point “We want all the worlds people. Not all the world’s problems.” We are fortunate to live in a democracy: we can celebrate our diversity and even advocate on behalf of issues we care about “back home”. BUT when activists insult, interfere with other Canadians’ rights, safety, intimidate, attack them verbally or physically or try to deny them respect nd freedom, we should prosecute them to the fullest, and if they’re not citizens, send them packing! Ho)
That’s a great comment and reply. Something the ship of post national ship of fools haven’t a clue. It doesn’t compute at all to them. They come from the re-education campuses whereby it’s correct and even sometimes fashionable to hug everyone even if some of those everyone’s want to destroy you and your peace. They think democracy such as ours is open ground for anything goes. They don’t even seem to take some kind of pride in protecting what we have or even have the foggiest what Canada means.
Maybe one time we’ll get back to a Canada led by real leadership who won’t stand for a Canada being used or allowed to be used as a toilet and dump.
I put it through my google translate and it seems to spam.
(Response: Maybe trying to intimidate? If so, won’t work! Ho)
Someone commented on another blog
“After the first Punic War, Romans signed a peace agreement with Carthage.
After the second Punic War, Romans signed a peace agreement with Carthage.
After the third Punic War, Rome utterly destroyed Carthage.
The was no fourth Punic War.
No other Arab country has allowed thousands of Gazan refugees.
Jordan had to violently suppress Palestinian refugees when they tried to overthrow the govt/monarchy.
Lebanon had to violently suppress Palestinians that slaughtered Christians.
NO ONE wants these people in their country because they always stir up trouble.
One can only imagine the negative voter reaction if any democratic country allows in thousands of these people.
Of course when has that ever bothered our politically correct “Post Nation” Prime Ministers?????
And until the Palestinians finally realize, no one will help them…….
They will continue to fight a losing battle for the next 100 years.
Good luck with that.
(Response: I still believe that once the Palestinian terrorists are no longer armed with rockets or in charge of Gaza (oppressing their own people as well as attacking Israelis) and once the Israelis elect a government more open to a two-state solution, there can be peace and even co-operation. But Canada, France and the UK will only delay that even more by rewarding Hamas for its killings/kidnappings by recognizing a Palestinian state while terrorists are still the only governing force in Gaza. Terrible mistake … showing Carney’s inexperience and weakness in the face of pro-Palestinian activist demonstrations/pressure and even intimidation tactics. Ho)
Help me out Harvey or anybody else because I still don’t see Carney’s actions the same way you do.
You said it wasn’t recognition that was the problem it was the timing. And you stated three pre-requisites, one of which was out of the control of the Palestinians, namely Israel having elections and wanting peace.
Here is where I think we are disagreeing. Palestine is a state and not a state. 147 countries already recognize Palestine. What are they actually recognizing? How is life any different because those countries recognize Palestine? How will life change if France and the UK and Canada recognize Palestine? What are we actually recognizing?
I wondered what some of the other less than 50 countries who don’t recognize Palestine are thinking. And my first choice was Australia, Commonwealth country, similar to Canada in many ways.
“There will be no Palestine left if the world doesn’t push for a two state solution.” So the timing does matter.
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/aug/05/no-palestine-left-to-recognise-if-world-doesnt-help-form-two-state-solution-penny-wong-warns-ntwnfb
I see France and the UK and Canada (and Portugal and Malta and maybe soon Australia) taking this step to declare that they want a two state solution. It is more symbolic than anything else.
France put no conditions on their recognition. The UK conditions are more directed at Israel. Canada at least asked for commitments that Hamas would be out of the picture and that the PA would reform.
And of course there are no guarantees that the PA will follow through but if they don’t Canada isn’t committing to anything like borders or continued diplomatic relations. But we are committed to a future Palestine living in peace with neighbouring Israel.
Wishful thinking? Probably. But the way things are going in Gaza if there is a time to put pressure on the PA (and Israel), this is it.
(Response: The reference to 147 countries that already recognize Palestine as a state is a bit misleading. It includes almost all of the 50 Muslim states in the UN, lots of dictatorships and dozens of small corrupted countries/kingdoms/undemocratic “democratic” republics that are beholden financially to Arab/Muslim oil money and power. What made France’s announcement so historic is that was the first G-7 nation to say it will recognize a Palestinian state ..absent from a peace agreement and treaty. The UK and Canada followed Macron the leaser …for reasons I outlined in my blog and subsequent Comments. Also no one should expect the Palestinians to have the means to have a stable government, hold elections and demilitarize while Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP and other terrorist groups are running around freely in Gaza or controlling huge areas of the West Bank. That’s why I agree the terrorists must first be obliterated or forced to evacuate to Iran and Turkey so a civilian government can take over and negotiate/establish peace with Israel. As for Netanyahu, his minority government is far too dependent on far right extremist parties (powered by their proportional representation system!) to make peace …but Israel is a democracy and the next scheduled elections are Oct 2026 and could even come well before then, if the current government falls. Canada, UK, France can recognize a Palestinian state on paper, but on the ground, that will change little and I believe will encourage the Hamas terrorists, harden Netanyahu’s resolve … and make it all worse. Ho)
I’m always surprised how passionate people are about this topic. I don’t really have an opinion. If I did, I can’t see it mattering enough to affect my vote here in Canada. The Israel/Palestine relationship is a mess as it has been my entire life. I don’t see it changing because world leaders said some special words.
(Response: The country of Israel, which archaeological digs show as a Hebrew/Jewish entity goes back more than 5,000 years, is smaller than Vancouver Island and covers 0.1% of the Mid East, while the 22 Arab/Muslim countries around it occupy 60% … and have ALL the oil! The “real” Palestinian historical homeland is actually Jordan, which the Hussein family violently seized and now holds in its iron grip. I have long believed the REAL reason behind the Arab determination/attacks over the past 75 years to destroy the little enclave was because it is a democracy, where there is freedom of speech and a free press, where people get to protest/organize/vote in real elections (sometimes too many of them? 🙂 ) where women, gays, minorities have rights, where Courts are not fixed and where corruption gets exposed/prosecuted … even if you’re the PM!! The Arab dictatorships and extremist Islamists really feared those ideas catching on with their own populations … many of whom watch Israel TV … so for 75 years, Israel had to go. Today, that is changing: more and more Arab countries …rich with oil revenues …want Israel technology, even weaponry and security deals … IF the Palestinian issue can get resolved with a two-state solution. But first, the terrorists have got to go … so does the corrupt PA and so does the extremist Netanyahu government and THEN hopefully we’ll see a peace agreement. Carney/Starmer/Macron will make things wrose by recognizing the state while the PA remains corrupt and terrorists are running around with more and bigger weapons/rockets than the Canadians army!! Ho)
Here we have a problem that has confounded international (presumably intelligent) diplomats and politicians for decades. Everybody has an opinion and everybody that disagrees with that opinion is stupid or naive or easily duped or whatever.
Right now we have an opinion. Canada should recognize a Palestinian State.
You oppose the idea. I have no problem with the idea. I am not saying I am right. It wasn’t something that was even on my radar before Carney’s announcement. But honestly I am having a hard time understanding people’s opposition. 147/193 countries already recognize a Palestine State. Now maybe Canada, United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Malta. And in Canada’s case for whatever reason the public supports the idea.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/majority-of-canadians-support-palestine-recognition-even-if-trump-objects-amid-trade-dispute-survey/
You and I both support a two state solution. Netanyahu does not. Who is right?
If we support a Palestinian State (TWO state solution) then we have to at least recognize something (even in theory) and someone to speak for it. No?
Or maybe we should keep doing what we have always done. Weep when the next terror attacks occur and watch in horror as people starve. At least we are used to that.
(Response: It’s not the recognition … it’s the timing that should be reversed. There are three pre-requisites needed to solve the problem: Hamas/terrorists must be driven from power/oppression over the Palestinians; the Palestinians must elect a government that sincerely wants peace; and the Israelis must have elections to elect a government that wants peace. Recognizing a state NOW will set back ALL of that. I thought Carney was smart enough to realize that….but I was wrong. Ho)
Middle East politics, a snake pit of lies deceit and death.
What I do not see in the comments is a care for the starving Palestinians.
Let them starve and decrease the surplus population, I guess.
Hamas is a terrorist group, no question and have done horrendous things, yet the world did little and just let the Israelis clean up the mess.
Well they are cleaning it up alright.
Then enter Benjamin Netanyahu who has now decided a scorched earth policy in cleaning up the mess, which borders on genocide. His actions almost seem like the old Lebensraum gambit, especially with the arms master and all around grifter, Donald Trump, eying Gaza as some sort of future surfer’s paradise.
What about the Palestinians themselves? Well? The Arab state doesn’t want them, decades of living in a massive ghetto has now inbred hate to such a point that it will never be eradicated, so what we see is the natural outcome death, destruction and more death.
I have no answer, but letting a population starve to death isn’t an answer either. Carney recognizing the Palestinian state, has probably more to do in pissing off Trump than anything else.
I do not see an end, just an escalating barbarity on both sides, which now seems quite normal to many and that is the most scary of all!
(Response: The plight of civilians in any war is always tragic and I know most people watching the suffering of civilians in Gaza do care. But Hamas and other terrorist groups and armed gangs … not just Israel … also bear responsibility for what is going on. I believe Israel bungled badly by blocking and restricting anything from entering Gaza for three months, because the UN and other aid distributers were allowing Hamas to steal/divert much of it to their own supporters and even sell much of it at inflated prices in the marketplace to raise money to pay its fighters. In fact, I saw a story on Hamas’ ally/mouthpiece network Al Jazeera complaining food for sale was very expensive… but clearly showing food was available. Today, even the heavily pro-Palestinian BBC reported many of the food/supply trucks allowed in this week have been looted by armed gangs … even using “rocket-propelled grenades”. A ceasefire will not solve the problems: we need Hamas and Islamic Jihad to wave the white flag and negotiate a withdrawal to Turkey or Iran; or, failing that, Israel should step up and finish the job of getting rid of the terror groups, so the innocent Palestinians as well as Israelis can rebuild their lives … and sleep peacefully. Ho)
A special report by The Press Service of Israel on Thursday found that according to the UN’s own numbers, a staggering 85 per cent of the aid entering the Gaza Strip by truck since May 19 has been stolen. The investigation found that a combination of black market profiteers and inflation have made much of the aid in Gaza markets unaffordable for most Palestinians.
So there we are airlifting food that most likely is going to feed HAMAS soldiers! Wouldn’t you think this would have been considered before the money being wasted?
(Response: I …and millions of other people … have been very bothered by Canadian/British/Arab media reports of Israelis killing people turning up for food at distribution centres. The CBC even had a Canadian Save the Children spokesman on last week who accused Israel of deliberately using the food handouts as “bait” to get the Palestinians to show up, so the Israelis could “massacre” them! His words!! And not a challenge from the CBC host. Horrible! So what has been going on? From other news agencies I’ve read/watched, looks like, yes, Israeli soldiers have fired warning shots and, yes, have killed some people who approached too closely to their security lines. BUT the Israelis say those moving towards the soldiers have not been innocent people in the food lines, but Hamas and other terrorists dressed as civilians, trying to take more Israeli hostages … or even attack/kill the soldiers. That sure sounds more plausible to me .. and should at least be reported, if the media (who quote Hamas and anti-Israel “experts” almost hourly) weren’t so one-sided and biased. Ho)
Looks as though Carney is joining the weaklings Macron and Starmer. Macron being the worst negligently stupid politician. But he and Starmer care only about their momentary fleeting power in time, but not their countrys futures. They’re truly disgusting. Is Carney really that stupid. Or, maybe he’s doing it to mainly pee off the nutjob south of us. If not, and probably not then Im sure he and his Trudeaus Liberals are just loving it. Things could get hot between Carney and Trump if this keeps up. Not good.
(Response: Carney is not stupid, but I think he’s either very niaive … in dreaming that Abbas is even capable of keeping the commitments he supposedly made (why haven’t the media demanded to see Abbas’ letter?) ) or very weak in caving in to the anti-Israel members in his caucus, pro-Palestinian pressure groups and the one-sided far left anti-Israel media. Two states, Yes, but as part of a peace deal, not as a gift to Hamas for its DECADES of terrorism. Ho)
What the hell are we (Carney) doing. Hamas must be smiling. They Will survive to kill more….unreal what this Carney government is doing. He will have a lot of answering to do whenever Parliament starts
50 years from now Harv will be hell for everyone
(Response: I have no doubt Hamas IS celebrating. They know the moves by Macron, Starmer and Carney … are coming off on the Arab streets as proof terrorism is “the way to victory”. The message it sends will not only be terrible for Israel, encouraging MORE terrorist attacks by those who will now believe complete elimination of the Jewish state through violence a real possibility … but also terrible for many Arab states, where insurrectionists/terrorists will also now be encouraged. Ho)
Abbas did not snooker Carney, he’s hamstrung by the caucus which at one point, mostly tripped over each other to welcome Jenica Atwin into their ranks when she bailed on the greens for anti-Semitic views.
All the same backroom hacks as Trudeau 2.0, cannot expect a magically better result when nothing is different than the newt in a suit?
(Response: No doubt Carney was under tremendous pressure from both within his own caucus and external forces I outlined in my piece/comments. But he’s supposed to e the “leader” and in charge. Now, I do want to emphasize that I, and many of those critical of his Palestine state shift, DO support a two-state solution …but surely not as the war continues and as a reward to terror or in a situation where even the PA has no real control of even the West Bank/ It’s simply ludicrous and naieve of Carney to think Abbas will disarm all the factions that parade around with better weapons than his own PA have …and also hold democratic elections. Carney was duped …and history will show him to be a fool on this one. Ho)
I knew Carney would be a weakling leader. He looked good on paper but thats all he’s turned out to be. Just paper. Thin weak wet paper. There’s nothing else he caved to except his masters. The Trudeauite heavy caucas and a little more from the voting pool, since he may be lose quite a few over the tarrif war. He’s looking weak there to. I never thought Carney would join the 2 biggest idiotic and spineless on the western world stage like Starmer and Macron. Those two are the portrait and picture perfect example of what politically correct and weak leadership is that’s leading their countries down the roads to chaos. Hopefully Canadians, or concerned Canadians don’t stand for it because I have itchy feeling this just Trudeau with a new mask.
(Response: I’m not ready to say he’s totally a weak leader …but certainly agree on this issue, he disappoints. Canada has stood firm on its principles in the mid East conflict for decades: yes to a two state solution, but as part of a peace agreement. Sure looks to me and I’d bet Hamas too like he is just giving in to the terrorists … which will encourage all the violent Islamist movements, and Iran, to keep up the violence, the rocket attacks, the incursions, murders and hostage takings … and draw Israel into HUGE armed response … and cost many, many more lives down the road on both sides. Terrible strategy! Ho)
Carney is a Liberal.
Federal Liberals ( Quebec voters?) have swallowed the anti-zionist rhetoric for years.
Gaza and Hamas are but the latest excuse.
CBC gleefully piles on reporting anything about Israel that puts it in a bad light.
Canada, Britain, France …Recognizing “statehood” now?
BEFORE Hamas is defeated? Before long overdue elections in the West Bank?
Why is the West rewarding the Hamas butchery.
Because it’s politically popular…
Give me a break.
Hamas started this “war”. Israel is finishing it.
I suspect Israel will double down on the encirclement and maybe call the worlds bluff.
It’s not as if these gutless, populist politicians have spines.
Palestine as a country?
Ok.
Declare Gaza a military exclusion zone for the next 100 years.
No one allowed to live there.
No Palestinians , no Israelis.
A wasteland of destruction.
Force everyone out of Gaza and send them to the West Bank.
Double the West Bank population.
You wanted a “Palestine”. You got it.
(Response: I believe 50 years from now, when historians look back, they will tell some truths many people, most politicians and all the media are afraid to acknowledge/talk about now: how opening our hearts and our doors to millions of Muslims has fundamentally changed our Judeo-Christian based society in terms of principles and values. There are now 1.7 million Muslims in Canada, 6.7 million in France, 4 million in the UK …and although the vast majority just want to fit in, too many of them (aided and abetted by far left activists) are acting out and pushing old country hatreds, anti-Semitism, even disruptive violence. Even Vancouver’s Pride Parade on Sunday could not escape their disruptive wrath! Yet, it’s almost fashionable now for to turn our backs, condemn, insult, and blame … not the terrorists who for decades abused, beat, even tortured/killed their own people (especially women and gays) … but Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, where even Arab citizens enjoy more democratic rights, higher education, better pay and union labour rights/benefits and health care than their relatives living in Arab countries around them. And sadly, our left-leaning political “leaders”, seeing all those votes, are abandoning our long-held values and principles. History will call them out … even if the pro-Islamic stacked media today will not. Ho)
Excellent response. I hope it’s okay that I copied your words and posted them to my FB account this morning, giving credit to you of course. People need to read them and think, instead of following blindly the Liberal propaganda.
(Response: Many of my blogs have been reprinted/republished on other websites … no need to seek permission. It is very flattering … and hopefully Keeping it Real helps people understand some issues about which I speak my views freely, while politicians and the media feel they must be “politically correct”, or are pushing a particular agenda. Ho)
Hi Harvey, I think you are right, Carney got played. He is flopping around like a fish out of water. What happened the “well respected business man” that that we were led to believe would lead us out of the mess created by our former PM. He seems to make an inordinate number of inane mistakes, for a man of his supposed brilliance.
This newest example, will make dealing with Trump, even more difficult for the negotiating team. But, I am starting to wonder if this is by design or if there is some other explanation for the incompetence. Surely, he can’t be this obtuse!
(Response: Dealing in the business world seems to be quite different from the world of international politics. The timing of this announcement was terrible … did absolutely nothing to lessen the suffering of either the Gazans or the Israeli hostages… and certainly didn’t help Canada’s trade dealings with Trump. Looks to me like Carney was more motivated to cozy up to Starmer and Macron … which could have waited. Ho)
Seeing the recent pictures of the condition of the Israeli hostages makes it hard, if not impossible, to have any sympathy for the citizens of Gaza that might be starving. I do feel bad for innocent children, but this is ALL on HAMAS and the people that voted them in. For Macron and Carney to call for what they are doing is an attack on the hostages. I hope all ethical moral people see what this is a play for – radical Muslim votes!
France probably would have surrendered to Hamas just like it did to Hitler. So would have Canada under a Liberal leadership. Israel is upholding its right to sovereignty and Hamas is still torturing their kidnapped citizens. What do you expect Israel to do? Sit back and sing Kumbaya with Macron and Carney with Trudeau providing the music with his son’s band while another attack on Israel is being planned?
I’m really embarrassed for the citizens of these European countries that are supporting this madness. They learned nothing from the World Wars. Appeasement at any cost, who are they kidding? And as for the village idiot at the head of our government doesn’t he consider himself a citizen of the European world first? Shame on him…. at least the Conservatives are not in favor of this madness!
(Response: There’s no doubt some innocent people in Gaza are starving, but watching several news sources (not just the anti-Israel CBC and BBC etc. I blame both the Israelis for first blocking and then restricting food/supplies for a while, but also Hamas and other gangs (not Israel) for both shooting at people trying to go to the Israeli/US food distribution centers and also hijacking and looting many, many of the aid trucks that are being allowed in. The deliberate starving of prisoners or making one of them dig his future grave (imagine if Israel did that to any Palestinian prisoners!) exposes Hamas for what it is really is and why it must be defeated and eliminated … not just for the sake of Israeli security, but for the Palestinian people too! Ho)
100% correct !! I’m so ashamed that Canada came out supporting a Palestinian State— especially now right in the middle of this mess. So anti Israel. Germany refused to support it, but Canada does ?? And who cares what Macron says anyway. France has always been an antisemitic country.
(Response: Macron’s own political future is in trouble … and I suspect he seeks the votes of those eligible among France’s 6.7 million Muslims. Ho)
Yep but other than pandering for Muslim votes what is that idiot playing at.
As to Israel’s response – TOTALLY JUSTIFIED.
