Once again, the anti-US, anti-Israel, pro-Islamic media got it wrong.
Saturday night and Sunday, several “news” outlets reported that the Americans had bombed Iran after Israel “began direct hostilities when it attacked Iran 10 days ago” (BBC).
Sunday, CBC’s The National (not surprised!) called the latest conflict “the war started by Israel”.
Wrong!
I have no idea whether so much of today’s media is just ignorant, biased or mired in malice … maybe all three?
But they’re just factually wrong.
The first DIRECT military attack between Iran and Israel too place on April 13, 2024 when IRAN fired more than 300 rockets and missiles at Israel. (https://apnews.com/article/strait-of-hormuz-vessel-33fcffde2d867380e98c89403776a8ac )
That was the FIRST direct military action between the two … and it was clearly initiated by Iran!
Did the CBC and BBC forget about that?
There had been covert actions between the two countries for decades and hostilities between Iran’s proxies in the Mid-East and Israel as well … but NEVER direct exchanges … until that Iranian missile barrage.
Iran, in fact, spent hundreds of millions dollars (some say billions) to fund, train, weaponize several Islamic terrorist organizations … Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and the PFLP in the West Bank and Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, and, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria.
Then, in 2021, Associated Press reported “Iran begins enriching uranium up to 60%, its highest purity ever and a technical step from weapons-grade levels of 90%.”
(By the way, it takes 3.67% nuclear enrichment to produce civilian level electric power; 20% enrichment to produce medical isotopes … but IAEA reports years ago detailed Iran’s enrichment level had reached 60% … getting very close to the 90% needed for nuclear weapons. In 2016, Iran had just over 400 centrifuges: today more than 15,000!
Although Israel had been engaging Iran’s proxies for decades, when Iran began enriching uranium well beyond civilian usage requirements, that changed everything.
Israel/US were suspected in 2010 of carrying out sabotage inside Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, destroying centrifuges; in 2020, a “mysterious” explosion again struck Natanz, destroying centrifuges; and, in recent years, Israel has been suspected in the assassination, poisoning of a number of Iranian nuclear scientists, military commanders, within Iran and elsewhere.
Europe, the UK, Russia, China and Canada urged restraint .. . even as Iran’s enrichment increased, numbers of centrifuges rose and more and more enriched uranium piled up: … currently 400 kg of 60% enriched uranium … enough to produce SEVERAL nuclear bombs!)
Yet, the SECOND direct military attack between the two was also launched by Iran … NOT Israel … on Oct. 2024 … with hundreds more rockets and missiles fired directly at Israeli cities and towns.
I guess the CBC and BBC forgot about that too!
It’s true Israel did launch the June 13 attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile launch sites, military targets and scientists, but knowing even the briefest history, it’s just NOT factually correct when media “report” Israel “began the direct hostilities with Iran” or “started the war”..
The CBC, BBC and other “news” sources may have “forgotten” the facts, but the United States did not.
Because Iran … through its proxies … has been also attacking US targets, killing American military personnel, civilians, tourists for decades.
In October, 1983 two truck bombs blew up at the Multinational Force Lebanon peacekeepers’ barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, “killing 241 U.S. and 58 French military personnel and six civilians “.
Islamic Jihad (sound familiar?) … the extremist terrorists funded, armed by Iran, claimed responsibility, saying they wanted to drive the peacekeeping force out of Lebanon. They eventually did, and Hezbollah (also backed by Iran) moved in and seized southern Lebanon in a bloody stranglehold that lasted decades.
That attack was 42 years ago .. and the US NEVER forgot the deaths of so many US service members … 241 … at the hands of Iran’s proxy, while serving on a peacekeeping mission.
There have, in fact, been MANY other Iranian-backed attacks over the years on the US (and other Westerners), collated by the Foundation for the Defence of Democracy:
“Hezbollah operatives drove an explosives-filled dump truck through the gates of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait City; Hezbollah terrorists hijacked Kuwait Airways Flight 221 on its way from Kuwait to Pakistan and divert it to Tehran, killing two American officials; A Hamas suicide bomber blows up a Jerusalem bus, killing three Americans and wounding three other Americans. A total of 26 people die in the attack; With the assistance of Hezbollah, al Qaeda suicide bombers almost simultaneously blew up the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing 224 people, including 12 Americans, and wounding thousands; and, 2003-2011: Iranian-backed militias killed at least 603 U.S. troops in Iraq, according to the Pentagon.”
All of these attacks by terrorist groups funded, trained, supplied weapons and explosives by Iran!
You can read the full report here: https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2025/06/19/iranian-and-iranian-backed-attacks-against-americans-1979-present/)
Does anyone doubt the Iranian mullahs weren’t well on their way to being able to assemble nuclear weapons? Does anyone doubt the Iranian Islamic extremists … who have killed/imprisoned/tortured thousands of their own citizens/students/women who dared to just protest their brutal Shiite regime … wouldn’t use a nuclear against Israel? Against the US?
The bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities won’t stop Iranian-financed or directed terrorist attacks in the Middle East and around the world, but at least their victims won’t be measured in the tens or hundreds of thousands!
In hitting Iran’s nuclear facilities … Trump got it right.

There are many many other nuclear fuel related sites around Iran. Uranium isn’t the only material. There’s also plutonium production and I believe even secretive covert types of groups or departments exploring and producing variations of weaponization for mass destruction capabilitues. Even hairbrained not to be trusted TACO says there are many many targets in Iran still. A few bunker busters and missiles into the few plants out of many untouched were just a half ass it, cut and run Trump American showpiece for the Isreali Trump relations. I think in the end Trump,is more interested in himself and his warped idea and vision of wanting to be a Nobel Prize peacemaker than Isreals survival. His deranged delusional mind can change a dozen times before lunch. He has also told Isreal to not depend on America to help again.
It’s now being reported that these bombings were only slowing things and that the IAEA boss is banned from Iran and varification cameras are not allowed anymore. The IAEA watchdog is out. America’s half assing everything from Vietnam to Afghanistan to Iraq and now to Iran us just buying exponentially multiplied adversaries and hatred and allowing them to dig there heels in more because the word is out that Americans and the western allies don’t have the staying grit. Cut and Run Trump probably thinks the Iranians will be his BFF. He was so nice he bombed us once and said okay we’re out of your country. It’s a wonder why the egg is smeared on theirs and the western allies faces. The Achilles heal of liberal western democracies. No jam for anything full commitment. Isrealis know that and Iranians know that as do other belligerent countries know that. The Isrealis at least can’t and wont be duped ever again. WW2 gave them that awful lesson and they’ve learned, Never Again. They are in full on combat survival mode.
Well.
It looks like the new Islamic fundamentalists in charge of Syria didnt waste any time…
https://www.reuters.com/investigations/syrian-forces-massacred-1500-alawites-chain-command-led-damascus-2025-06-30/
This is the reason why Israel will never be pushed out of the Middle East.
Arabs are too busy killing each other over their “one true religion”.
Are there any Arab democracies in the Middle east?
Are there any Arab democracies anywhere? ( I dont consider Indonesia a democracy)
(Response: Actually, there’s something brewing the anti-Israel media won’t: watch for Syria and Israel to sign a peace deal before the end of the year!! Apparently the new Syrian government wants US/Western aid and investment, rather than tie itself (as the former Assad regime did) to Russia and Iran … and a peace agreement (although likely not full diplomatic relations to start) will open the way for the bucks to flow. It’s a good story … maybe that’s why BBC and CBC don’t report it. Ho)
Anyone get the funny feeling BBC and CBC are completely anti – semitic from top down. I do 100 percent. I’m fed up.with my taxes going to the CBC bums. The Tyee some what bothers me also among others. Being one who likes to read various stories and articals from different sources to see the difference, I’ve noticed they stand out as being quite bias and anti Isreal sounding. I heard and read that they get bit of a contribution from.us taxpayers. Is that really true. It’s okay to have proper balanced reporting but I do want my taxes to stop going to.these sorts of places if indeed that is true.
(Response: Both are far-left systemically anti-Israel and it’s very easy to spot how, once you start watching with a critical eye. Very big on showing the horrible impact of war/conflict on Palestinian civilians … and that’s okay ..but totally negligent in showing the horrible impact of war/conflict on Israeli citizens and families. You would hardly know watching either that Israeli soldiers are still being killed regularly in the conflict, that they too have mourning/grieving families, that since the Oct 7 massacre, more than 28,000 rockets/missiles have been fired into Israel by the terrorists, that when Israel struck a courtyard beside a Gaza hospital, they DID kill Hams new deputy leader, hiding in a tunnel right underneath that hospital, that just this week, Hamas gunmen near the border with Egypt hijacked four huge semi trailers loaded with food (video showing all the trucks with armed terrorists on top shown elsewhere) or that UN officials have ORDERED all their officials and “humanitarian” allies working in Gaza NOT to co-operate in any way with the American/Israeli efforts to bring in/distribute food to Gazans. How “humanitarian:” is that! ) And then ,watch their “interviews” following their biased stories: they seem to have great ease in finding “experts” and “commentators” who condemn Israel for anything and everything, but great difficulty finding ANYONE (unlike other networks) to defend Israeli actions and often even name the terrorists killed in their strikes. Shameful one-sided journalism … that also, by the way, contributes to the growth of anti-Semitism among unaware viewers/listeners. Ho)
Well said.
Thank you for pointing out the impending deal between Israel and Syria. Hadn’t seen anything on that yet. I’m not surprised.
Had wondered what the new leader of Syria would do. When it was announced his group had “won” the war I saw him on t.v. and listened what was said. I thought he might be a good change and seemed fairly astute. Making a deal with Israel will be good for both countries. They could each use the back up. Also when it was announced who the new Syrian Pres was the Kurds announced they were good with that and fighting would cease. The Kurds have fought long and hard and were good contributors to eliminating ISIS. If they were laying down arms things might have a chance. An agreement between the 3 groups could solve a lot of problems for each of them and won’t have to depend upon the U.S.A. for much of anything.
Don’t see the U.S.A. contributing to any support for Israel now that trump has his stupid tiny brained bill. With his referring to bankers yesterday as shylocks tells me that was the o,k. to start the anti sememetic campaign. When called on it he said he didn’t know what it meant. His followers might give him a break but me, not so much. He lived in New York long enough.
As Canadians we need to stay informed on politics which might effect us. Relying on any one source I found was never too smart. all media, o.k. not most bloggers, are big business and their only aim is to present the things which will benefit them and their friends.
Harvey, I can’t support your trust in the IAEA.
These dessert rats know where to hide the goods, how to falsify data and deny access. Pick an Arab country, it’s what they do, by nature.
Anyone believing they do not have redundancy, perhaps X3, is naïve. I still think the Iranians are happy to see Trump gloat and brag while the merrily carry on.
More and more opinions and educated guesses are emerging on the purported damage to Iran’s nuclear program. Even within Iran itself. And that’s all anyone has, opinions, including the IAEA.
(Response: I don’t really see your point. If you can’t trust the IAEA and you can’t trust the US or Israel and you can’t trust Iran … who should you trust on the state of Iran’s nuclear capabilities? What was the alternative … wait until they announce they have the bomb? Or use it? Even if they still possess the technical ability/material to make a bomb, I have little doubt the US actions (and the Israeli ones), with so much infrastructure damage and their economy in the toilet, will see Iran pull back from proceeding again for quite some time. Or they’ll get plastered again! Ho)
I think I get what Stu is saying, is that IAEA cannot know or see everything if they can’t be allowed entry to see the damage or be able to follow on the coat tails of the Iranians across Iran just like they cant with other tyrannical states . The IAEA is fine as far as what it’s set up to be and do and has done a good job as far as it can do it’s job. I myself trust the Isreali’s in as far as they can possibly do. Stu only said he didn’t trust the IAEA. But that can have different meanings as farvas their limited power goes as far as what they can possibly do in their limit of access and verifications that are limited depending on the state actor and also even politics. They don’t have unlimited power.
Cut and Run bully and thug Trump I don’t trust at all. My god the thug is threatening our own sovereignty. Theres been nothing like that ever before except the War of 1812 and I think he’s sickly jealous and obsessed over that even. He doesn’t have a clue what he wants because his brain is tossed salad. Hegseth and Vance are just as bad as his sidekicks along with the hierarchy of MAGA nutters. He’s a bloody bully in threatening other sovereign nations. They scare the hell out me. One minute he’s a freind of Isreal the next he’s slamming them along with Iran. Isreal has to keep up a good appearance with Trump because of the need for tech and military equipment help but I think Isreal will have to start building more of its own heavier miltary hardware and fast because they probably feel they could be more alone in the world given what thy see in the mad never ending self aggrandizing politicians and appeasement and half asking things by western leaders. Trump though is also hot and the frozen cold with Russia and Ukraine. And patriot batteries aren’t going to be enough to stop Mad Vlad and Thug Poutine.
I believe Stu is right that the Iranians or a huge portion of them and their big leader will love seeing Trump gloat and stumble and fumble, just as presidents and appeasing western leaders and presidents before him allowed Iran to get to the point it got to. Iran is a large country and very baron and mountainous. Even modern technology in Spy and intelligence are tools can’t detect and glean everything. A radical hellbound determined enemy can achieve insurmountable odds. And radical religous zealotry can blind one to sensible rational thinking. And the streets of Iran are full to the brim with the citizens chanting for blood revenge. We’ll see how that works out. Rocky rods ahead I think with big potholes.
(Response: No doubt Iran has the technical knowledge, resources, geography and physical ability to reconstitute its nuclear abilities. However, given the state of the country’s economy, severe damage to the regime’s power structure and leadership, I’ll be surprised if going nuclear …or at least going nuclear to a level even approaching military potential … will be on their agenda for many months, or even longer. Ho)
Canadians be aware … a dictator lives south of us ….!
Yes I agree, and the crazy politics in like the Canadian version of MAGA. Make Alberta Great Again. That insanity may help Trump makes some inroads. So where’s Carney. Zzzzzzz.
Sadly organized Labor is/was trying to weigh in on a topic best passed over….
https://ca.news.yahoo.com/ori-freiman-cupe-no-business-100029759.html
Maturity often is an exercise in engaging one’s personal pause button on topics which one is not a participant, far too many labor mouthpieces fail massively on this maturity litmus test.
I for one will pass on offering my own thoughts on Iran/Israel, as I’m neither and my opinion is anything but new….See how easy it can be….
Looks like Trump is on his tyrants roll name calling and railing against reporters in the most despicable and disgusting display of immaturity because he doesn’t like them doing their daily duties of doing their jobs. He doesnt deserve any credit after all for anything. He’s fake news and has all the earmarks of a thug, a bully, and dictator. When the the press is being attacked in such a way and I see it really ramping up then that’s when the people need to pay attention. He’s more scary than the Iranian regime. Half assing it in Iran ike previous wishful thinking presidents has only bought a small window until Isreal has to go at them again maybe because of worse reasons. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but they’ll do do what they need to do and not what Dumbo wants. Bibi just gave Trump a soother for now. But right now Trump is attacking Journalism like never before and must be pushed backed on. As I said this is the earmark of a dictator. It’ll get worse. The temporary win in Iran feels good for Americans and a lot of us, but I think, don’t let the guard down while our eye is on the other side of the world and be distracted from what is going on in our own backyard.
(Response: Horrible news out of Iran: more than 700 people have been arrested in the aftermath of the war, accused of aiding the enemy. Imagine the horrors they are already enduring at the hands of Iranian police/interrogators! Three have already been executed: no fair trial; no time for defence to prepare; no appeal process. Horrible! And yet, where is the CBC and BBC on these outrages? Where is the UN Human Rights Council? Very little mention even of what is happening. Think of how this would be covered if Israel did this … all the human rights officials, experts, protests we’d see! The Iranian regime is pure evil … and although regime change did not happen, at least those of us out of its grip can sleep better knowing their ability to go nuclear and threaten the Mid-East and even Europe ,the UK and North America has hopefully been dealt a heavy blow! Ho)
Horrible disgraceful CBC and BBC sure comes up a lot. And deservingly so. They are the sore thumbs that stand out for sure. Back in your in your heydey you probably would have kicked ass. But your doing pretty good anyways. Keep it going Harvey.
(Response: Tonight CBC’s The National .. true to form … showed Gazans complaining about food shortages and some carting away bags of flour etc, and only “mentioned” Israel’s claim that Hamas had yesterday stolen food crossing into the area …but did NOT show the actual footage (televised elsewhere) showing FOUR open semi-trailer size trucks/trailers loaded with food, each with a dozen armed men on top, being hijacked/stolen! Why didn’t the CBC show that? Armed terrorists hijacking four large trucks filled with food. Pretty important footage! Why not shown: I believe because that didn’t meet the CBC’s biased narrative to blame only the Israelis for the terrible conditions being suffered by civilians in Gaza …never Hamas or other terrorist groups. Shameful reporting! Where are our MPs …they should be speaking out. Ho)
The MPs are cowards. Political Correctness hard at work I guess. Definetly not going to get mny with a spine from Trudeaus holdover party and ship of fools. Heck they can’t even get tough on the rising street crimes from crazies, druggies and all sorts of rising criminality out there threatening and terrorizing innocent hard working contributing Canadians. Better not get going on this to much because it really gets upsetting.
Harvey, in your response to Ijustdontknowanymore you said; “BUT at least now Iran won’t have nuclear weapons to push their agenda …at least for a while.”
Again, how do we know that? Do we now believe because Trump says it is so, so it is?
If, as some believe, minimal damage was done to the bunker, the Iranian regime will be extremely happy Trump has dusted his hands, walked away and convinced the world Iran’s nuclear program is toast.
(Response: I can agree that you wouldn’t want to base any position solely on remarks of Donald Trump. However, I assume the AIEA and other countries, using satellite technology and other scientific means, will know very quickly if the Iranians start to work again on any kind of nuclear power. At least, I sure hope so! Ho
wouldn’t trust what trump says on anything. he only says things which will benefit him and his. Does Iran still have nuclear capabilities? Who knows except Iran and perhaps Mossad.
If Israel sends up a third squad we will know the second attempt wasn’t as good as the first attempt.
My take on it is other countries in the area aren’t happy either with Iran having nuclear bombs which can land in their swimming pools. I’d expect Israel to drop bombs on Iranian nuclear facilities any time they thought Iran was making too much promise.
(Response: I sure hope so! The Western world has become far to weak (appeasement?) in dealing with some very evil cruel regimes that disrespect democracy, human rights in their own countries, let alone their neighbours or adversaries. Diplomacy is best, of course, but when these dictators say they will obliterate us, bury us or destroy us and start preparing the means to do so, we could be fatally foolish not to believe them and stop them before we can’t. Ho)
I like to be positive about it all but I have my doubts just because of the history of utter appeasement policies that have been the mainstay of our western democracies. The momentary quick fix and bandaid, that allows for a bigger and literally more expensive in not just monetary cost but human cost. Regarding Russia or China and especially Russia, that’s a different monster that I don’t know if Trump can handle Russia seeing that its basically an eqaul superpower and not an easier low hanging fruit target. Trump doesn’t handle stress well or multi tasking on different fronts of crisis. The Europeans and Northern countries can and should be taking the lead which they seem to be more. Its their territory , so I do agree on that front where Trump has in more aggressive terms to basically get off their duffs and contribute more. All in all, we’ll see if Trump figures out one day that China Russia North Korea and other dictators aren’t his friends, gets out his diapers and becomes a real president.
(Response: I watched Trump’s NATO press conference today and was struck by what seems to be a new tone on Russia: watch for the US to step up providing Patriot missiles to Ukraine … lots of them. Ho)
Bad news now, Putins best buddy Trump in the Whitehouse hall of shame have cut off much needed military equipment to Ukraine that probably includes Patriots batteries,. It’s said by Trumps administration of sheep, that they are short on stockpiles of weapons and equipment supplies. Like seriously. I have my doubts that they’re short. America? That’s a good one. Putins happy and says it will help end the conflict quicker. Well no lie. Exactly the way Trump has been hoping by proof of his past cold treatment of Zelensky and cold shoulder concern of Ukraines plight. Europe better get its butt moving faster to help Ukraine. Their neck will be in the noose next. Maybe they’re already on the steps to Putins gallows. Nobody should depend on Taco the multifaced faced backstabber is my opinion. It’s typical of that tossed salad brained goof. We’ve seen what damage this thug has caused on all fronts even to the way he treats friends and allies of America. The disgusting disrespectful creep even keeps on Canada as the 51st State. He’s not a leader or presidential. He’s a despicable thug and bully and loose Cannon and even a coward on the world stage. The presidential pulpit is his bully pulpit.
(Response: I see shades of the prelude to the Second World War … capitulation and surrender by the US to Putin will just bring more demands, more threats, more invasions and attempted takeovers … of Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and parts of Finland, Estonia etc. …and eventually greater conflict. Ho)
I do to. TACO Don’s idea of a peace deal in Ukraine is when Ukraine capitulates. Trump and the weak western powers are lost on it all and don’t know what to do except send some equipment and weapons that don’t seem to be cutting it enough to stop the huge uptick in Russian attacks.
Trump on the phone with Vlad. Oh pleeease , please stop the attacks. Oh please, pretty please. I’m giving you another two weeks to stop it Vlad. I really am you know. No no seriously, Bye bye now Vlad, have a good day. Remember now, two weeks.
Meanwhile in the South China Sea, the Chinese Navy is testing the waters more and more for Taiwan, while TACO is whining and getting his diapers in a knot with all the rising world messes that he and his incompetent administration have no clue or guts how to deal with in the world, except for caving to their bully eqauls. Thugs and bullies and Tyrants know thugs bullies and tyrants. Now China’s watching the predictable timid west and Trump for their right moment. But on the on the home front, Trumps winning the war on the constitution, democracy, and wow, and especially on immigration with his thug ICE Gestapo agents back home. It must be tough to have a bunch of agents taking down innocent good hard working Moms and Dads and breaking up established families in the dragnet for a few bad apples.
(Response: It’s very strange: as I wrote, I believe Trump got it right on Iran, and I’m glad he sees right through the Hamas/media propaganda narrative on Gaza, and I support his view that NATO countries must step up our defences … and yet, Trump is letting Putin play him like a fiddle! So disgracefully too. Trump tried once more for a Ukraine ceasefire Thursday, talked to Putin, got nowhere again …and a few hours later, Putin thumbed his nose at Trump with the heaviest drone attack on Kiev since the war began! Trump should realize China is watching! Ho)
Out of all this mess, I’m sure the Iranian regime is now in total vengeance mode.
(Response: The Iranian mullahs have led a “hate” regime for 46 years against Western values (democracy, basic human rights, especially women’s rights, other religious groups …including Sunni Muslims… and, of course, the US and Israel), funding several terrorist organizations that are allies . Nothing that happened in the past two weeks will change any of that; BUT at least now Iran won’t have nuclear weapons to push their agenda …at least for a while. Ho)
What a mess.
Sitting here in our living rooms, how the hell do we know what is really going on and who we can believe.
With no disrespect to Harvey, how do we know the enrichment numbers are accurate? How do we know they are not just another G Bush “weapons of mass destruction” story, to justify the act of bombing?
Trump says obliterated, experts say not, just a few months delay in Iran’s nuclear program. Who do we believe? We already know Trump is allergic to the truth.
Iran and Israel are stuck in childish dialogue; “he hit me first, did not, did so.”
The only thing I know for sure, I am very concerned for my good friend’s large, liberal, open-minded family living in Iran.
(Response: The enrichment numbers, along with the centrifuge numbers, are sourced from written reports of the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency …based on site visits, satellites, scientific reports, etc. allowed by the Iranians under their international agreements. However, the IAEA had also reported traces of uranium at sites the Iranians would not let the agency visit/inspect. I have never seen the agency’s credibility seriously challenged or doubted … and even the Iranians have admitted they had processed their uranium to 60% …well beyond any civilian power or medical isotope requirements…. and too close to weapons grade. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/06/12/iran-nuclear-breach-iaea-un-watchdog/). Based on their threats and actions (even domestically) I’m glad their program was set back … hopefully for years! Ho)
The intelligence gathering and reports is the key Stu. And the best intel is the real intel, and when it it comes from the various reliable sources and then is verified together. After all the craziness of the day I settle myself with that. The worst intelligence to avoid is the fake intelligence of what comes out of wishful thinking politicians mouths, and especially self gratifying Trump and his propaganda bully mouthpieces.
How good is the nuclear material Iran has. Right now I’d say not great. If it was good Israel would have sent another squad up to go sight seeing in Iran. If you look back at some of Israel’s actions they have done fairly well. The raid on Entebee, Getting Eichmann out of S. America. The killing of those who provided technical assistance to Iran back in the day…….
(Response: Israel also wiped out the nuclear reactor Saddam Hussein began building in Iraq (with the help of Pakistani scientists). Much of the world publicly condemned them, but privately were quite happy (including several Arab nations.)
Same today … many leaders/countries are breathing a sigh of relief that Iran’s EXTENSIVE nuclear infrastructure was severely set back … whether for six months or hopefully six years. Ho)
Iran is a theological dictatorship and woe to anyone who transgresses the government’s actions. Iran funds many of the terrorists groups in their endeavours to eradicate the state of Israel.
The media ignores the last bit, “eradicating the State of Israel”.
Israel is a democracy, with a fractious government.
Sadly the Palestinians are collateral damage, so much for unceded lands, something the First Nations should take note of.
So, a theological dictatorship has only one end and that is to spread the gospel and liquidate dissenters and we have been doing that since the Christians came on to the seen. Even the Romans accepted different religions in their empire.
So, recent events are not surprising at all, especially with Taco Trump in charge of the war chest.
Israel slapped Iran across the face with targeted strikes to decapitate the higher commands of it various military/religious/terrorist organizations. Iran replied with ballistic missiles and drones.
We now come to the nuclear question as one of the key development site for a nuclear bomb is in a mountain, so Trump sent his mighty B-1’s with “bunker busting” bombs, which by all accounts didn’t bust all of the bunkers!
A historical note, the Brits had the 22K Grand Slam, earthquake bomb in 1944.
So, today, Taco Trump announced on his “Truth Social” (administration by text) that a cease fire was in hand, only it was not as Israel and Iran trade attacks and in the meantime it has transpired that the enriched uranium needed for a bombs was moved to a secret location. So on and on it goes.
Is there settlement for recent events, in short no. Is the world safer by this? Again in short no.
So Israel comes out on the winning side again (absolutely predictable); Iran suffering a blunt force trauma from both Israel and the USA; the world is playing “Where’s Waldo” for the enriched Uranium; and Trump and his MAGA cohorts are at each others throats for involving the USA in another war.
For added flavour, Taco Trump mused loudly about using nuclear weapons on Iran, which certainly perked the ears of the Russians and Chinese and sent shivers down the spine of the likes of the EU Ukraine and Taiwan.
The big question is; “Are we any safer?”.
(Response: Apart from their threats for 46 years to destroy Israel, the US, its shooting down of a passenger jet, its funding/arming of so many terrorist groups etc … it’s Iran’s treatment of its own people that is the most brutal. Many people remember Mahsa Amini who was arrested by Iran’s Religious Police, tortured and murdered for not sufficiently covering her hair!! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Mahsa_Amini). “Improper dress” can get you arrested, fined, imprisoned and even flogged! I’m REALLY HAPPY their ability to develop nuclear weapons has been set back …hopefully for years! I just regret that the poor people of Iran must still suffer under the religious tyrants. Ho)
Two comments:
1) Where the hell is the United Nations?
Oh, the UN is run by dictators.
Time to say adios.
2) Why doesn’t the corporate media start countering Trump and his lies or how Iran is a very unpleasant theocracy, which you have well stated before.
I see no spine at all, just word salads and antisemitic tripe.
(Response: I hope people are noticing how quiet the UN and all its “Human Rights” agencies are as Iran has arrested (and its likely now torturing) 700 of its own citizens it accuses of aiding the Israelis/US. The real purpose of these trumped up (lol) arrests are to terrorize their own population. Three have already been executed! Where was THEIR trial, bail, right to hire defence lawyers, months to prepare their cases, rights to cross-examine, appeal??? Where is the UN? Nowhere! And by the way, today, i24 News showed FOUR open semi-trailers of food aid that crossed this week from Egypt into Gaza , seized by dozens of armed Hamas fighters (riding atop them) and carried away to feed their terrorist army … or sell at inflated prices to Gazans. Haven’t seen that footage on CBC, BBC yet! Where is the UN on that? Why aren’t all the anti-Israel “humanitarian” experts so often seen on CBC, BBC condemning Hamas for stealing food out of the mouths of starving Gazans? Ho)
Harv you were or perhaps still are part of the media. As a former media person, I am sick of the total unreliable media coverage of events in the East … where else do we get honest reporting ….
(Response: It’s very difficult: too many media now take sides, push their own values and biases, and don’t fire or even discipline “reporters” who push their own agendas! What I do, as a news junkie, is watch a variety of newscasts (everything from the major Canadian/US networks to BBC, Al Jazeera (almost total propaganda!), Israel TV, and read several papers (subscribe to the digital Vancouver Sun, Washington Post, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star) …and ALL of it with a skeptical EYE and EAR … watching for one-sidedness and too often, just ignorance (lies?). Of course, most people don’t do that …so its very easy for them to be brainwashed by biased reporting/newscasts. Ho)
I read Reuters, The Economist, AP News…..the rest I take with a grain of salt.
CBC, Global, Fox, etc etc etc….
Their new slogan…
“All biased. All the time.”
As for Iran.
I think this latest bombing won’t stop their eventual manufacture of “The Bomb”
Israel and America quietly avoided the massive, nearly complete, Nuclear Power plant under construction by….Russia…in Bushehr, Iran on the Arabian Sea.
Not a peep from anyone about that potential problem….
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushehr_Nuclear_Power_Plant
No one is talking about that.
Not Trump. Not Israel.
Especially not Iran.
It is if it doesnt exist.
(Response: I’m not sure (maybe I’m naïve) that the Iranian regime … in such poor economic state ..will waste billions more to resurrect their nuclear ambitions, knowing Israel/US will just blow it all up again. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll be smart enough to seek some sort of new agreement to give up nuclear development (beyond 20% ?) in return for lifting of sanctions crippling their economy. Ho)
I hate to say this but……………”The sole purpose of the Iranian regime today, is to build a nuclear bomb and drop it on Tel Aviv.”
That is what the lame stream media should be reporting, not their word salads and antisemitic tropes.
This is the politcal reality we live in.
Trump wants to build “fun in the sun condos in Gaza”.
This is the alternative reality Trump lives in.
Which reality will come to fruition first?
Well it’s looks like Trump went right back to being the naive delusional imbecile with the mouth being miles ahead of his brain. Now he slams Isreal along with Iran. The dope is a lost cause. He also has the hallmarks of many western, especially American political leaders who think everything like this laughable ceasefire is a quick permanent fix and it’s over. Trump though, is just a mess. My god, the fool thinks its actually thinks it over and he’s the big daddy peacemaker with great visions of self grandeur pulled from his snowy white day dreams. Has he ever got it all so wrong.
(Response: No doubt, his mind/emotions can veer all over the place … instantly. But his rant may have worked: since then both sides are observing the ceasefire. But for how long? As you suggest … it’s not over and peace with Iran is still a long way away! Ho)
To all those who think Jewish people should never have occupied Israel, there was little choice as they were expelled from other Middle Eastern lands in.the first half of the 20th century.
Yes Trump kept it tight and got it right. I’m good with it. The only issue is, where is that load of enriched uranium, but there’s never any guarantees for best outcomes in these situations. I’m sure the intelligence network will glean that information though. What the days after look like is another thing but someone had to take the initiative. Past presidents have been nothing but appeasers to it all while Isreal was constantly on the edge by themselves trying to fight off the vultures around them wondering when they might come in for the final cull of their people. I’m hoping or day dreaming that is, that this has seasoned Trump to make these hard decisions on the world stage and quit coddling and appeasing the other tyrants, in the naive hopes of being a friend with them somehow and quit worrying about the damn nobel prize and peacemaker thing. My god that guy has to stop that bullcrap and get tougher, because those bad actors use all of these things and appeasers to their advantage. As I’ve kind of said before, the wild animals out there smell weakness in appeasement and timidity that to many western leaders and governments portray because they are to interested in pleasing all the many different groups for some votes instead of doing what has to be done But I think now, I’m comfortable in saying maybe Trump has finally defined himself as not being so unremarkable as a president . He just needs to keep it up and also stop treating his presidency back home as some kind of empire and he’s the king and respect the constitution of the people better.
About the CBC and BBC. Those shameful lot of fluffheads dont deserve anything further in a comment.
(Response: The US (and IAEA?) have satellite viz of dozens of trucks lined up at Fordo a few days before it was hit: I’m sure analysts have a way of tracking where those trucks went. I just hope negotiations cover what happens to it all! Ho)
I’m positive that uranium won’t be overlooked wherever it is or some of it is. Isreal will make sure of that and I’m sure if it wasnt destroyed in Fordo then they already have tracked those trucks and any transfers and deceptions. American item will know also and the IEAE would i think have been given the information or be given it, when or if they even come into play. Isrealis are focused and will surely absilutely preserve what they’ve done so far and continue what needs to be done when needed despite many wishful thinkers in the Whitehouse and they’re big mouth non thinker president. I think Trump is more worried about his Saudi relations and big showman, big daddy big money wheeler dealer optics more than Isreals survival. He just cant be trusted. He’s unstable and all over the map. He’s a mess.
Personally I have no belief or faith in any peace deals or negotiations especially everlasting ones on this front. Even if the uranium is taken care of, Iran will continue on its destroy Isreal course. I’m sure Iran prepared for these destructions of their infrastructure and accepted it as necessary sacrifices and have compensated in different ways and seen these things as just going with territory. These deals are just the same old deals of appeasement to please the western leaders weak mindsets of instant self pleasing political gratification of the day.
(Response: No agreement or treaty is perfect or guaranteed permanent. But I think the Iranians now know (and so do the Russians, Chinese, North Koreans) the US (at least under Trump) IS ready, willing and able to use military power to stop them! It would be dumb for the Iranians to commit more billions to pursuing the bomb … knowing the Americans (and the Israelis) won’t let them succeed. Ho)
No one ever said religious zealots were smart especially those who mix religion with politics
